Thanks for that, i agree it's counter intuitive but i also get it. I'd not really given much thought but had assumed that the leverage was putting us at advantage if the rod was stiffer. I see now that it doesn't, it's the fish that gets the advantage. His previous video, linked to in the one...

It's not one ive used or am familiar with but Ascot Dr in Derby is full of little units, so seems plausible. Using a credit card to get some protection seems wise if you go ahead with your purchase.

Has anyone got recommendations on where to get large cage feeders for the bigger rivers?

I have 6000OC's on my pike rods and Okuma Pulzar 6000's on my Chimera 3's for big river barbelling. I rate both highly.

I picked up a couple of second hand rods yesterday. Both have perished foam at the bottom. Is there a way of easily replacing this, or is it a complete handle strip down job?

I have the thermos king flasks and they are great. I would definitely recommend. However, I've just moved over to a lightweight stove set up which has proved ideal over the colder months. You get a little extra bonus warmth and something else to think about whilst blanking. I have an alpkit...
