Got one of these and I'm not sure I like it. Big fat blank, unforgiving action and tc well beyond 2lb - approaching 2.5 I'd say. Feels like a carp rod. Possibly an acquired taste, I'd recommend auditioning one before buying.

Concur with Jez. I seem to find myself attached to 2 fish at the same time at least once a year such are the shoal sizes on the mid Severn and it's never resulted in a lost fish.....or a missed bite (but I think that's a completely different 'old chestnut'!)

I would have thought that an an emulsifying oil is a bad thing (?) Cod liver oil is always a good cold water option (they do spend most of their life in the colder reaches of the northern seas of course). However, I'm inclined to agree that the smell of the bait is masked by any dip/glug or...
Four seasons on the middle now, hundreds of fish banked and still only a handful over 9lb with no double yet. I've encountered a few 'experts' that get one every session. (Not counting Steve W a couple of seasons back mind!) ;)

I consider myself a rational chap, however have long held the view that the 'curse of new tackle' will significantly reduce my chances of catching when using a new piece of kit for the first time. Everything needs at least one airing before I'm confident it will contribute to a fish on the end...

I use these and never had one fail. Hooklinks have snapped at a mid point when snagged, but not at the knot so doesn't appear to compress the line.
