They do seem smaller Steve but they still catch me fish.
I just quickly score a shallow slot centered around a third of the pellets circumference with a penknife and hair rig it using a lasso rig,.. simple, works for me.😉
A contributors copy of the new 200 page annual mag Piscator dropped onto my doorstep this morning,.. the Dorset Stour through my eyes seems to have made the cut.
Many many moons ago I brought a pair of Shimano 5010 gt baitrunners not long after they’d been introduced to replace my Mitchell 300S’s for barbel fishing. I liked them so much that some years later I thought I’d buy another pair for backup but found that Shimano were now pushing the super...
Ha,.. Mr E. I assume,.. he keeps on nagging me.😂
It’s just nice to be able to capture those magical , ( sometimes almost surreal) scenes we witness as anglers.🙂📸
Having got bookshelves heaving with angling books this thread got me thinking of my top ten.
I’ve picked out these for different reasons,.. those that have inspired my angling and photography,.. those that relate to waters I know and love,… those that were written 40 plus years ago illustrating...
That’s a disgrace Mark,… such a shame,.. in fact, shameful to those whose shareholder profits have put a smile on their faces and bulged their bank accounts.
Some folk are all too ready to politicise such travesties,.. I well remember prior to privatisation the plane de-icer gel I was wiping off...
We hardly fished St Pats back then G. … 40+ years ago,.. times gone quickly.
Preferred Burghfield which was just a bit closer to home.
My abiding memory of St Pats was our Transit blowing a big hole in the silencer as we neared the venue early one Sunday morning. Any anglers near the carpark...
Can’t be of any help I’m afraid Martin but your post reminded me of some happy productive years spent there late 70’s to mid 80’s. I’ve been trying to find some of my angling memorabilia from back then just to see how much I paid to fish the whole Burghfield complex including umpteen other top...
Very nice Bob,… hadn’t heard of TCH,.. still like the bulletproof ALPs.
I wouldn’t mind a chimera 1 tbh,… I just seem to spend every last penny on camera gear !🙄
Atb,.. and thanks for building me such a fabulous rod.😉
One of the joys of having a rod built was the personal choice of extras ,.. I was like a kid in a sweet shop.
The iso-blob was a good idea ,… I’ve lost whipped on isotopes on other rods.
The ALPs reel seat was important for me as I’ve never been a fan of plastic screw-down seats after busting...
Hardy marksman 14’
Torrix 12’ 1.75 - 2.0 twin tip
Martin Bowler ‘Ouse barbel’ 12’ 1.5 tc.
If I had to choose just one it would be the latter ,… good chub and tench rod with a medium action,.. had some good barbel on it as well despite it being a budget rod.
Have to give an honourable mention to...
