    Folk didn’t believe that pic was taken on the H. Avon because of the ’bear’ in the background taking a dump.😂 It was just another angler packing away his gear of course,…. here’s an edit without wildlife.😁

    Reels for trotting

    Yes you did suggest the Stradic 3000s G. …good call. I remember the day actually,….. it’s when you and the other 2 piss takers were standing behind me when I was wading Throop . I’d been having problems with the Exage 3000 all morning,… the line tucked behind the spool and I had to undo the...

    Reels for trotting

    Hi Rob,… can’t say I’ve tried out all the suggestions from above plus I do like trotting with a c.pin if the swim and conditions are suitable. Given I’m a pretty useless caster with a pin compared with those who have used nothing else since childhood I often fall back to smallish fixed spools ...

    using old reels

    Talking about using old reels,…. once or twice a year I use my old dad’s Mordex Merlin that he brought in the 50’s and I nearly ruined in the late 60’s when l ‘borrowed’ it without permission. Probably not quite in the spirit of this thread because I give it an outing for sentimental reasons...

    using old reels

    I still have a Mitchell 300a which I brought new God knows how long ago which still does what it’s supposed to. When Mitchell brought out the new 300S skirted spool edition I brought a pair and used them for nearly all my fishing back then. I must admit they took a caning but I had more problems...

    using old reels

    Still use my shimmy 5010 gts ,… they must be 30 years old. God only knows how many hours I’ve fished with them but they haven’t missed a beat in all those years. I always slacken off the clutch after each session,… bail arms are still strong. I was going to upgrade to the super baitrunner some...

    Hardy marksman supero barbel rods.....

    I love the Hardy S. 14 foot float. It’s my go-to trotting rod for chub and barbel on both D.Stour and HAvon. Subjective I know, but it retains both sensitivity and power,…. I had a dabble with the 15 footer but preferred the 14’ for some reason.

    Item of tackle you wish you hadn't sold.

    Drennan tench float mk2 for £50 to a mate donkeys years ago. He still likes to remind me that it’s his favourite rod.! It was a good trotting rod for barbel although I found the lower eye too close to the reel and it also felt a bit heavy,…., still regret selling it though.

    Korum Supalite River Brolly

    Took delivery of the Korum river brolly today,… as I feared, no storm pole attachments,… you know, .. the very same that are shown in the promotional guff. I’ve messaged customer service,.. so I’m awaiting a response. Given the design of the brolly ( which looks great I should mention),… I’d...
