The molle 'army' ones on ebay are great and cheap, when the mice get through them you just get another. I do also have a big Cotswold one for the winter when you need to carry a flask and an extra layer and a 6 pack of double deckers.

I once cross-threaded a sump plug on my mark II Astra GTE (shocking car). I stuck some PTFE tape around the thread and wound it back in. I then stuck a load of plastic padding around the plug. I then sold the car.... ;-)
i think anglers of a few years would in the main say this is an unwritten rule, some, who may have fished day ticket ponds in the past will think differently as that's all they've known. Personally, unless fishing with mates I would rather no fish next to anyone else. I've apologised to people...
had a go at making my own bait about 10 years ago. Found it an awful lot of bother for little reward. Though I get the satisfaction of catching on your own bait. Sold all the bits and pieces, flavorings base mixes and alike. Now 2 kids later, I have no idea how i found the time for things...
Free Spirit Barbel Seeker might be worth a look. They've been out a long time now, still a great tool, have happily used them to bosh out feeders on bigger rivers, Thames, Trent, Severn etc. but will also use them on a smaller river with a couple of foot on.
I have a pair of Thunnus 4000 ci4. Cant fault them. Shimano 5000 XTEA's are still about used, often in great condition, and probably 15 years younger than a 5010/5000 GT/GTE... Is there anything in the Penn stable suitable for a barbel anglers needs?
the landing net handle is about the only one i've never broken, Fox, Drennan and Gardner have all failed in one way shape or form, the Chris Brown one is still going strong; only down side is the weight.
Bank sticks are spot on but wider in gauge than most, so leave big holes in the ground...
