I tried a roving method on the Medway a few years a go. I would stay maybe 45 mins max in a swim, sometimes only 20. I did this for a season. I did reasonably well but caught no more than fishing just one or two swims. I have also tried it on the Kennet and had similar results.

Well unfortunately Ian, I have witnessed it. I have only fished here the once and saw something being thrown out into mid river. It looked to me that it was for the intentions of fishing. On contacting my fishing companion and member of said fishery we wandered down stream to investigate...
Sufix Camfusion for me too. It's bomb proof, so rarely breaks on rocks or snags. It's fast sinking and lays nicely on the bottom. You'll get it on eBay for about a fiver for 20m.
Nice one Paul, I'll have to try and remember that one. Sounds like it could be interesting.
I occasionally stay on a farm when I fish the Wye. The old boy who owns it certainly blames the barbel for the further decline of the salmon stocks. According to him the places that the salmon like...
Yeah these were on hair rigged elips pellets. The medium sized ones. Two particular days come to mind, both on the same river and similar areas. The first day in one particular swim, which I was fishing down stream, I managed one fish which pulled the rod top round and lots of sharp knocks...
Have to agree with Gavin on this. Had lots of chub bites this season that I didn't think were chub, just cagey barbel. Struck at a few when I could, as did others I was fishing with and made contact with a few barbel. On one day I waited for the rod top to wrap round with all these sharp...

Martin go with the Drennan. It's one of the lightest and strongest on the market (if not the lightest and strongest). Just keep the expanding lock mechanism clean and greased and it will last for ages. I am useless at cleaning anything (dirty boy) so I just got hold of a spare part from...
