    Footwear Advice

Agree on merrells, good quality and last well if regularly cleaned and treated with nikwax spray after a good soaking…just get a size larger than normal

Which braided mainline for rolling meat?

How about trying something like drennan double strength in 10/12Ib, it’s pre-stretched and should transmit knocks and plucks etc…it does when touch ledgering for chub, you just need to be light handed with playing them. Only problem I see is the potential for twist if using a rolling pin??

Advice needed for custom power float rod

For those who favour 12/13ft rods shimano are releasing their new specialist TX floats rods- 12 ft is 2 piece and 13ft 3 piece. I had a waggle with the 13ft the other day the rep had brought to my local shop, feels very balanced with a fast tip and loads of stopping power lower down. Only had a...

    Treasure trove - still useable?

If it was me I wouldn’t use it for barbel on a low stock water as too much doubt on effectiveness - on a high stock water go and try it you’ll soon find out. However, I would still make some bait up and use for chub…they’ll eat anything! My cheesepaste is 4 yrs old now and in/out of the freezer...

    Wormery

Nice! Couple of tips…keep it out of direct sunlight and check for/remove dead ones a couple of times a week, if left in they can soon spoil the whole wormer; and they particularly love eating cucumber!

Insight GR60X Line or ESP Syncro XT Loaded.

I tried the GR60x and found it very wiry which was surprising as a big fan of the original gr60. Also tried the ESP and was okay but a little wiry…personally I think there is far better line available - Fox Exocet to name just one

    WANTED - shimano stradic x

They do come up occasionally in mint condition…if the reel stem is not scuffed, and still pearly white/ not yellowed, it still has the original shimano sticker on the top of the stem and the transfers are not worn then likely a goodun! Im a fan of the Stradic brand, rods and reels, and have a...

Good work fella👍 it’s been a struggle to even tempt a decent chub for me on the Ouse, then as soon as we have some decent rain I can’t go🤦‍♂️

    Water temp

Does anyone take river temps, something I used to but not for a few years, and no longer have a thermometer. So does anyone recommend a particular thermometer?
