I've used super slick too, and it's certainly good line, but find it's like rope for the breaking strain compared to j braid. I'm sure it's understated on diameter, and breaking strain as well.

I find Diawa j braid 8 strand very good, and reasonably priced. Use it for overseas stuff and never had a problem with it. Very strong for the diameter.

I like 'em, and 4000d's are more than adequate for my fishing and very neat,imo. I seldom fish 2 rods, but when I do I think they're essential, and very convenient if you need a Pee, unless, of course, you are happy to wind in or just stand up and slash in the peg!

In my experience, "guides" are often inclined to interpret Club rules to fit their requirements. I'd report it to the Club.

It certainly has potential for some big fish , a good few years back a friend of mine had a 35lb Carp while fishing for Barbel there.

He might regret that if a few good thunderstorms dump upstream😁

You're right, Terry. I've learnt loads already, I can see my rods are completely inadequate, my reels the same as they dont hold half a mile of 20lb, and I now see a willow twig is not appropriate as a rod rest and I need a great big contraption that would be very at home on Chesil...

I've found a stretch not too far from home where there are a few Barbel, not many come out, but it is a nice place to fish and I don't mind putting a bit of time in there. What would be my best approach? I'm thinking maybe maggot feeder on one rod, depending on nuisance fish numbers, and meat on...
