    Ray Walton Rolling ‘ pin’

I've never used one but a mate had one and said the line twist he got with it was terrible, so much so he was trying to get rid of it at a bargain price. I don't see the point of them myself, learn to pull/wallis cast, which can't be that hard if I can manage it, or just use a fixed spool.

    Feeders or PVA bags.

I much prefer bags, cleaner than messing about with gb, and Imo a lead snags less than a feeder.

    Barbel bites/ takes

Ok, I can see the principle of that, but doesn't all that tubing and gubbins negate any stealthy advantage over a normal hair rig?

    Motivation.

Variety is definitely key, imo. I do Coarse, Game and Sea, I'd soon get bored if I stuck to just one for too long...

A few outings on the Charente and Vienne

Hi Clive, Nice report and photos, particularly like the one with your dog, who looks very comfy! Have you raided the local Museum for some of your gear ? 😁😁😉

Just say you're a Farmer, spray whatever herbicide you like, when you like, to within about a foot of the River.....

    Another "Old Chestnut"

Trouble I find with Mags is that even if I put about a dozen on the hook after about 2 minutes I've either caught a micro Chub or just got a few skins left on the hook.

    Another "Old Chestnut"

Predicting very bad weather is easy, just book up an expensive, non refundable beat somewhere. Regarding the pellet thing, I bet they're all waiting for them to plop in, having been starving for 3 months !

EA pledges review of poaching ‘inaction’

I agree, can't be a lot of spare cash floating about... https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1249029/uk-floods-environment-agency-salary

You thought otters were bad !!

Yes it is, Joe, and no it doesn't! I think historically it had a few Grayling, but I've never seen or heard of one from there. The Brownie fishing can be very good, though.

You thought otters were bad !!

Don't have a problem with them, personally. I regularly fish the river where it all started in England, and as far as I can see they have done nothing but improve it so far. Time will tell.....

    JW Young River Specialist centrepin

It comes with a card that says if you have any problems, phone Gary on a mobile number provided, so I assume that's Gary Mills.

    JW Young River Specialist centrepin

I bought one recently from an online tackle company, but it had to go back due to the spool being slightly out of alignment, which I wouldn't expect from youngs. Nice looking reel, and the rachet is indeed very adjustable.
