So sorry to learn of this awful news. A brilliant fisherman and broadcaster. His enthusiasm and humour were highly contagious and 'Go Fishing" was always a joy to watch - I watched that Bream episode only last week. Will be greatly missed - RIP John

Pub's still accesssble Alan Fished near there today and I have never seen a non-tidal river rise so quickly - was having to move further up the bank every 20 mins or so. Trees flying down and almost impossible to fish but....barbel love a rising river and managed to catch quite a few from...

I used to fish behind the Forbury Gardens, by Huntley & Palmers back in the early 70's Dave, and although I never caught any myself the occassional barbel did come out so who knows ?
