    FUTURE FISHING big update

I spent a few years getting about half my bits from AD, it was just so convenient if wanting multiple, specific items to be able to get them in one place. In the last year or so though I made the decision to only use them as an absolute last resort.

    Spam - or not?

Careful David, I believe a lot of early experimenters with chickpeas went on to make other funny round balls. Without realising you might be turning in to Rod Hutchinson 😂

Shimano Aero XR 3000 or similar wanted

Hi David, glad its done the job. The XR in 3000 will be similar to the ninja but a bit lighter and nicer to use. As you've probably seen, it also has a spool reducer. Best of luck on the lakes and tarns.

Shimano Aero XR 3000 or similar wanted

I’ve got a few of the 3000 and one of the 5000 and a really like them. I’m sure you will get different opinions on what size but it will be personal preference I would think. They are really light though and personally I really like them compared to the shimanos I’d had for the previous 20 years.

    Link ledger tips

Just thinking about this again, with the rolling meat I would think if it is ending up straight down the near side margin then again it needs more weight or some slack in the line. When the rolling meat is going well you can really feel it slowly trundling along. Loosely, I'd cast 45degrees...

    Link ledger tips

Hi Ben, I'm no expert but I'll outline how it's worked for me, or at least my interpretation of it. I've sort of had two approaches to it. The first one has been fishing quite close in, generally where there is little flow, but perhaps on the edge of flow, a slack or eddy. In this case I...

    Last trip to the wye

Nice one Craig, plenty of scope to go smaller on the barbel as well, just stick at it 😂

Loss of fish haunting - redemption

It's not covered in mud and being kept out for a protracted self take, it's not flapping around on gravel or concrete, or left in a carp cradle for 5 minutes, or put on a baking hot, dry unhooking mat. The fish is on soft ground and having a 2 second photo in the net. I'm all for mats but this...

Loss of fish haunting - redemption

Just a thought regarding the original post. I had a day on the Wye some years ago where I was fishing a new swim and it took me a few fish to get the hang of it. There was a snag out there and after a few lost fish I worked out if I struck in a certain direction, then walked in another direction...

    Huge tackle auction

I was hoping to ogle over some reels although like a heathen I got bored of scrolling through funny looking fly rods made of fibreglass and cane. Sounds like he’d found the right women, not only accepted the collecting but was happy for him to continue.
