I bought this ages ago & it's had hardly any use - the carp spot never came to fruition. I did wonder if it would suit heavy water barbel fishing for some of you on here. My local rivers don't need such a powerful rod. Ref no is ANT12275FA. I have the original bag for it. I'm at a loss to pick a...
All that time ago it was largely market gardening - sheep were up on Bredon & the hills though. I'm in North Yorkshire now & chicken farms seem to be the choice for profit. They smell dreadful & I'm not sure many people who buy the product are very clear about the conditions the birds are raised...
I'm really sorry to hear that about the Isbourne. I used to cycle to various spots along it & catch chub & dace when I was a kid - about 60 years ago... I dread to think how many tons of fertiliser have been applied along those fields since. I do hope you find a few fish - you could always rely...
Maybe produced by Conoflex? My Conoflex is so old I can't remember when I got it but still 100% serviceable. It has also done duty on various Heath Robinson household `reaching` jobs!
Crikey - I did see this carbotec & wonder if it might make good money -
Carbotec Select Float rod Fast Play 3

anyone on here familiar with them?
Works on the Swale! I even made up an old type sausage paste with it & found it worked very well as a big blob on the hook. It's pretty fatty so not as dense as bacon grill - bounces well along a swim on a weighted hook.
Hope it's OK to post on this forum - looks interesting & starts with a look up North, focussing on the Wharfe I believe. https://www.bbc.com/mediacentre/proginfo/2023/10/paul-whitehouse-our-troubled-rivers
If anyone is still happy with wellies I can recommend these - https://www.bekina-boots.com/en-gb/boot-advisor/leisure~480/product/steplitex-solidgrip-without-safety-toe-cap-o4-green~142/ really grippy & a wide fitting.
I've had some which was admittedly a few years old - it seemd to deteriorate much more than any other line I've ever used.
I ended up testing all the spools I had & they broke a long way below the stated bs.
I`m using gardner GR60 at the moment & it seems very good & not crazily priced.
I'm still using a 1lb tc rod, but not often fishing more than a rod length out then it's on smaller rivers.
Sometimes put on the quiver section if it's very cold using bread, otherwise hold the line & give up a little slack at the first knock. Either my old Terry Eustace Avon or Tony Fordham...
I've just spotted this on Ebay - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175382331000?hash=item28d599fe78:g:cXwAAOSweNxi945G which might suit you, despite the name! A hefty chunk of mackerel in winter has been successful on some of the Yorks rivers.
I suppose it's obvious but it's a closed cell foam so absorbs no water & comfy enough to make it worthwhile as a seat. Really useful as a kneeling mat when working under the sink or on a rubble floor etc. (I'm afraid mine has heard some awful language!)
