There ya go........ The Otter Trust is the world's leading Otter conservation organisation, the only place in the West Country breeding the British Otter regularly and reintroducing young otters into the wild to save the otter from extinction.
I'm sure you're right Phil where there is significant value in them doing so. Interestingly enough though, they didn't buy Bawburgh, even though it is a great sanctuary for birds. Even The PSPB don't have a limitless pot of money.
I've not used a G11 but I'm told that the G12 is very similar. Anyway using the timer on the G12 is a doddle and the LCD screen is big and bright, unlike the G6 which is small and dim. You get a disc with all the details of the camera as part of the package and another disc with which to upload...
Thanks for that Derek. I did cast a line into Lake Bala many years ago. In fact the view from my bedroom overlooked the lake from up in the hills with the sun rising over it in the morning. It was a spectacular sight that would set you up for the day. However, it is specifically the grayling...
Hi Gareth, a word of warning regarding the G6. It is a nice camera but if you should have a problem, the spares are hard to find and the costs of getting it repaid are more than the value of the camera. The flip screen is a great feature but where the G11 and G12 score as fishing cameras is in...
You can be pretty sure that the whole thing will be broken up into packages and sold off, as I can't see anyone buying the whole thing. Bawburgh Lakes, which belonged to CEMEX but was not run by them, was sold off recently and will continue to be run as a fishery. I'm sure the same will happen...
I'd love some advice here if anyone has any to offer. Way back in the early seventies I spent a while living in Snowdonia and occasionally did some grayling fishing on the Dee below Lake Bala. I now have a strong inkling to go back there for a visit next winter and also spend a few days trotting...
Also word of mouth, but 1st hand. A friend of mine was pike fishing on Hickling Broad recently when he struck into a run only to have whatever had picked up his bait shoot off into the reeds. Following it in his dinghy, eventually he found his line running over the marshes and disappearing into...
There's a story going around Norfolk at the moment that is sort of amusing. Allegedly Robin Buxton, the owner of Horsey Mere was walking around the broad with a party from Natural England, etc, when an otter ran across the footpath in front of them dragging a bitten by the throat. I'm not sure...
I heard it said once that one riparian tree provides as many insects for the fish to feed on as one acre of meadow. That sounds like one blooming good reason not to chop them down.
Thanks Paul, and yes the Perchfishers book is fab. Without doubt it was reading it that finally lit my fuse and sent me out after them. I had a 3.01 Norfolk fish today and a 2.04 so after chasing loads of dead-end leads, I think I'm now in with a chance of a new PB to end the season with.
Absolutely, Steve. I just wish I'd done it before making my contribution to the artists section of the new Perchfisher's book, though it was this that spurred me on to having a serious go at long last.
This winter I've had my first serious efforts after perch in years. Had a few good fish too up to 3.13. Apart from the fish themselves, which are fantastic, what I have really loved about the fishing is that it has reduced me to being an absolute beginner again.... learning about the species...
Hi Darren, with the first edition of the book the reproduction of the artwork was good. With the second edition the colour repro was absolute rubbish. Neither Crowood or John Bailey had the courtesy to ask me if they could use the artwork for the second edition, let alone pay me for it, and...
