Right, fished Blenheim today. God Awful! 6 boats out and not a single person had as much as a bite...neither me nor my father had so much as a liner, didnt see any signs of fish whatsoever other than a small dead bream and a jack pike. I dont believe there is any head of fish in there at all...
Hi Chaps,
I have recently been given permission to stock a small lake near my house with some tench.
However there is an otter in the area. The lake is only going to be fished by myself and three friends from the pub so we cannot spend thousands.
I am thinking parallel electric lines but...
Hi guys, wondering if anyone can offer some advice. My old man who is now almost exclusively a fly fisher is having some serious nostalgia about his tench fishing days when he was a lad. He was very specific about fishing lillies from a punt so have booked a day at blenheim palace. However i...
Another vote for the drennans for river fishing, had mine for 7 years and still going strong. I use chemical crack sticks for my bass fishing though as the extra brightness is good on the beach/rocks, the issue with buying the crack sticks in bulk is that they do have a shelf life which varies...
Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone on here could give me some advice. I have decided to switch targeting rivers for my first '2' as I am not really getting anywhere, have caught a few over 1 but nothing near 2. The only stretches I know of that hold 2s are very pressured resulting in basically...
Yeah agreed. Just used mine for the first time for a stillwater perch session. Zero perch unfortunately but tested the action on some bream and casting big maggot feeders. Perfect for the job as they have just a little more guts than my fox avon, punching feeders out far better. Very happy with...
That's good news mate. I hate graphics on rods so tend to bind them in dark insulating tape anyway, or just remove them if I have no intention of moving the rods on down the line.
How do you think they would go for medium distance tenching on the quivertips or bolt rigged maggot feeders? Enough...
Hi chaps,
After an unsuccessfully search for a second fox duo lite Avon to make a pair I managed to find a good deal on a pair of the above in 11ft 1.25lb TC for my light Stillwater ledger outfit. Specifically for perch tench and roach at short to medium range with bobbins/alarms. Also...
I was down in Cornwall over new year and met up with my 'bassing crew' for a couple of drinks, who are all local boys...none of them were even aware there was going to be a change in legislation, nor did any of them really care when I told them.
Their philosophy is, and always has been, that...
Fair point well made.
However there are times when ledgering at a bit of a distance or in deeper water is the ticket. Like I say, a few sessions a year max.
Beep beep beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep! I can hear Chris Yates sobbing from here.
Me and my 12.99 alarms...coming to a water near all of you soon!
The original question was with some tench, perch, and roach fishing in mind. I personally don't use alarms barbeling but can imagine they would be useful if staking out 1 swim for a very long time or if fishing at night. Neither of which i do a great deal of, well not in my barbel fishing anyway.
Thanks mate, will give it a bash...havent fished a canal since i was in single digits i dont think so quite looking forward to it. The george is an old fav so thats a bonus!
Thanks guys, thats all good info. I pushed the boat out in the end and spent the small fortune of £12.99 delivered on two TMCs. If their rubbish i can ware the expense of a few pints and go for some of the more reputable alarms. I will only be using them for a few sessions a year.
That feeling when you arrive home and you haven't thought about anything but that fish all the way back...and you have no memory of the drive, and suddenly start stressing out about how many red lights you jumped, speed guns you whipped past, and possibly even people you ran over! Then when you...
Hi Guys,
I have recently returned from 5 years down under and have brought my ultra light bream (or 'brim' if you believe them) fishing kit back with me. I am looking to do a bit of drop shotting for perch in the canal around Bath but am unsure which stretch (if any) is most likely to put me in...
Thanks for that Luke,
I will actually be using them for still water fishing in the close season (Perch, Roach, and Tench) so I don't think the receiver or sensitivity settings will be overly important for me.
That's a hell of a deal on the signatures but considering how seldom I will use the...
Any thoughts or experiences? They are all over the internet at the moment and i am after a cheap set as i rarely ever use them. Also looking at the wychwood signatures. If anyone can put in their 2 pence it would be most appreciated.
