Whats this i see in the bristol avon 😁

I suppose the issue with beavers in the BA might be whether or not the existing landuse around the river banks can cope with changes the beavers might cause to the floodplain. Much of the land along the BA is quite actively used for agriculture and residential etc and the course of the river is...

Nice beaver! Did you film it Andy? Where have they been released?

    So long 2020-21 season.

Finished with a blank yesterday. Haven't been able to do much barbel fishing but have had a good winter/autumn fishing for roach with a pb and several more over a pound. Managed 1 barbel off the BA on a scorching afternoon in June and enjoyed my annual trip to the Wye with fish from 2 stretches...

    Roach

Great to have short session into dusk. Had a few small roach while the sun was bright and then as it almost got too dark to see the tip clearly it disappeared round the corner. 1lb 7 and a bit. New rod properly christened.

    Waterlogged

Black birds singing last couple of mornings and blue tit pair have been checking out their nesting box. If the forecast for snow tonight is right they might be best off sleeping in the box!

    Rucksacks which ones ?

I've had mine 2 years and it is absolutely fine and worth the money. It lives in my barbel bag and seems to swallow all the bits I need plus the what ifs and odd purchases that look handy but don't get used that much!

    Quiver tipping for chub

Fascinating advice! Maybe you should write a book Mark to ensure these skills get passed on to the next generation. I am working on balanced up streaming based on Braddock and Roberts and wish I could see others in action to fine fine what I do.

    Roach

First trip of the New Year with new IM8 and Shimano Super Match combo today. I had a small roach first cast and another not long after. Them after quite a wait I hooked something heavy that bent the rod right down to the corks. Unfortunately I couldn't stop it swimming into a snag and the link...

    Photos of river scenes

Warleigh weir (BA) today. Unbelievably there were 2 swimmers! Interesting to see the Island having not fished it for several years. Someone has planted conifers and hazel and reeds are growing in the field. Not convinced that the push for bathing status is going to change what was a beautiful...

    Bristol Avon

Hi Eddie, you have a choice between Bathampton, the Amalgamation, Warminster or perhaps Keynsham. Generally the barbel fishing is tough along the whole length of the river. I don't think many fish the Bathampton stretch any more and that is true for Avon Cliff as well. There is a Facebook...

    Wanted: Light feeder rod

Drove to collect a Drennan IM8 bomb rod today. It looks and feels just right. Very excited for Xmas now. Thanks again to those who tried to fix me up.

    Hooks to nylon recommendations

I use Kamasan B560 which I tie to Silstar Team Match line in 3lb BS. I think you can get them ready tied but I wouldn't know what the line is like. Good for presenting bread flake on a size 12 and you can easily bend them back into shape if you have to pull out of a snag.

    Roach

That's more roach than I catch in 5 seasons! Not keen on keepnets or tarmac.

    Ever thought of pre-baiting!

Indeed. It sounds like it is quoted from a Jack Reacher novel!

    Greys Bewick 4"x¾" centrepin reel

It has a grub screw so I think that makes it a mark 2 and a true pin.

I have a version 2 and it is a very nice trotting reel.

    Roach

Another early start. Snapped off by something chunky first cast but made up for that with a pb an hour or so later. 1lb10oz. Creeping upwards.
