    I need a quality Umbrella

As above, can anyone suggest what I should be looking to buy after 2 poor previous choices (years ago mind) It has to identify as a brolly and not a bivvy as our club does not allow bivvies.

Fixed spool reels for float fishing

I used to use a Shimano Aero match reel which I stupidly gave away when I concentrated more on the fly fishing 😮 I've been using a drennan 7 series and it's been a nice reel. But I went to a Cadence show in Bridgnorth on tuesday night and made use of their BOGOF offer. I purchased a pair CS8...

Fish you have seen that have blown you away but never caught

Lol, I have a habit of catching my best Grayling whilst flyfishing for Trout when the Grayling are out of season, and vice versa.🤔

That's making my knees quiver just from the photo.... It would beat my PB by many pounds!

Fish you have seen that have blown you away but never caught

In about 1992, I was fishing a very large eddy of the River Severn. After several good Barbel hooked and landed on the meat, I had one of around 7lb taken by an extremely large Pike. It had hold of the Barbel across the middle and it didn't let go for a good 10 minutes. Even got its head near...

    Strange Hookbaits....

I purchased some white pudding today from the local butchers. Obviously some surplus has been chucked in the freezer for bait trials ☺️ Has anybody else tried it?

    Touch Ledgering

I've always been a single rod fisher and 9 times out of 10 I'm holding the line like a trigger. As someone said earlier, many a time I've suddenly been playing a barbel or Chub after instinctively striking. You can often feel the fins and barbules of the fish, sometimes you get the mild...

    Ruckbag replacement

Richard, A question about the Korum Ruckbag if I may? I ve just purchased one of these and need to buy a new chair, are only Korum chairs compatible with the clips? I know I could bodge something up to fit anything, but nice to have things right if possible.

    Your favourite Blockend feeders

Open end groundbait feeders seem to be getting very popular the last few years, but where I fish on the middle Severn, Groundbait seems (to me) a waste of time. So I'm more of a blockend feeder fan, Kamasan Blackcaps and big Drennan ones in particular. What are your favourites? (I want to...

    Are you a Backwinder or a Drag-artist?

I feel that I should add to my original post, that where I say 'backwind' i mean let the reel reverse and slow the spinning with my fingers behind the bail arm. As someone alluded to earlier, in my earlier fishing years there was a lot of talk about line twist whilst using the drag system, hence...

    Are you a Backwinder or a Drag-artist?

I've never used the drag system when fishing for Barbel and Chub, but everyone these days that I come across, seems to be the opposite. I must admit to a few knocks and bruises from spinning handles but I just can't convince myself that I'd be better off using the drag. What do you prefer and why?

    Strange Hookbaits....

Has anybody ever tried Black Pudding? I fancied trying some made into a paste and putting a ball in a bit of that mesh.

    Strange Hookbaits....

I was chatting to someone fishing for Barbel on the Severn today, noticed a very strange looking item on the hair rig, a large chunk of chipshop battered sausage! He assured me that if it's meat based it will catch Barbel. I certainly don't doubt that, but it made me smile😀 Virtually all the...
