    Anyone fished the River Ock?

Never fished the The Ock. The Thames at Abingdon though does hold some big fish not just Barbel. Wouldn't be surprised if some get into The Ock. Maybe not in current conditions though.

    Berkley trilene flourocarbon diameter.

You have the 8lb in 0.25. I have it in 0.22 and 0.28. Need to check the diameter in future when buying.

    Berkley trilene flourocarbon diameter.

I thought I'd make up some hooklinks yesterday. I bought some trilene about a month ago in 8lb strain. As the old one has only about a metre left on it, I've been using it for short links Tenching in the spring. I wanted to start with size 16 hooks. To my surprise I wasn't able to put the line...

Yes Simon but at least they're alarmed.

Daiwa castizm br 25a or 25qd

I managed a 14ft slr rod and a castizm reel for under £450, early last year. The free spirit rods are even more expensive! I still haven't quite hit a 100 metres yet 😭. Technique I guess. Should use a window feeder too.

    Prolonged heat

I'm not fishing for barbel or travelling. Been on my local river. Which yesterday was surprisingly not that low. What I'd expect this time of year. Had a good flow too. I've dug-out my match rod with 3lb line and targeting the silvers. After 6pm mind you.

Daiwa castizm br 25a or 25qd

That's a cost effective alternative. I quite like nzon feeder reels too. Although not qd they're quick enough.

Folding handles are convenient but not a necessity for me. Bigger handle normally greater cranking.

I'm guessing you refer to the black tdx, with the push button spool? I see Daiwa have a tdx qd, without the push button. Considerably cheaper too.

Daiwa castizm br 25a or 25qd

I've three cast'izm 25qda. As Richard says above, lovely reels. I never really took to baitrunners. Only have one now. Okuma something now relegated to respooling duties. Large line capacity. I've said before on here, just love the qd feature. Only wish the 2600's had it. I know you can aquire...

    Reel Opinions

My local Lidl still has a couple of their crevit bait runners in 5000. They're not big. The price certainly isn't big £15.

Trying new line - Gardner Mirage Platinum

I was reading an article last week by a French carp and cat angler. His focus was mainline breaking strains. He had no time for flourocarbon full stop. He refused to recommend any flourocarbon. He stated, he wasn't convinced by any of the perceived advantages of flourocarbon. The invisibility...

    Tench 2022

I think I'll target a river Tench this summer. Might even get back on the gravel pit I've been fishing, if the weed receeds and after spawning. Enjoyed this thread. Some good fish been banked. Think it's safe to say. Bill is a Tench king. He's had a blinding couple of months. Good luck on the...
