I use a pair of Extricators for piking when out in my boat, and find them quite forgiving in the tip.I think the lad in the Crabtree carp programme the other week, would have had an easier time with a rod of a more controllerable length,as trying to "keep the rod up" when it's 12 ft long was...
On the subject of sealskinz socks,I thought they were for use with boots that are not totally waterproof.More for keeping your feet dry than warm. The only time I use mine is when motorcycling in heavy rain.
Pete.
The previously mentioned Wychwood folding net is in the shops now.Not rubberised but made of a shake'n'dry material.Magnet gadget works ok and is useful.Much more positive method of locking in place than the Abu which is famous for automatically folding at the wrong time.RRP for the 30inch is...
8oz is a hell of a weight to cast properly as opposed to a firm lob.If the Fox Specimen at 2.75lb isn't suitable how about a Martin Bowler 2.25lb made by Drennan,or if money is really irrelevant how about a 2.5lb Torrix or a Chimera 3.However you wouldn't be able to properly cast that weight...
I also remember this series, especially the carp fishing episode in the womans back garden pond.
Colin, you've also reminded me that my old 602 is in the loft somewhere.Whilst on the subject of past fishing series, would anyone know if the Day Ticket series was ever available on VHS/DVD.
The chrome Zippos are not currently available from Amazon due to some customer complaint, but the black ones are.One advantage with the Peacocks is that they're available in 3 sizes.
Doubt if you'll get a Peacock as cheap as the Zippo, but as far as I know the Peacock is the original petrol hand warmer dating back to the 1920's.If anyones lost the lighting/extinguishing instructions, they're on the web.
For fans of the Korum S3 seamless eyed hooks, they're available again by Owner. The model is CT-5 Iseama.Pretty sure the Korum hooks were in fact Owner distributed by Korum. That arrangement has now ceased and Pure Fishing are now the distributors for Owner who are marketing the hooks in their own...
Another vote of confidence for the Tay Sports.Best all round boots I've owned. When I ordered them I enquired whether they came up big/small and was told to order my correct shoe size which worked out perfectly for me.
I went for the ESP digital jacket and bib'n'brace. The appeal being the 25,000 hydrostatic head and a breathability factor of 10,000.Spent 5 days on the Wye a few weeks ago with copious amounts of rain for 4 days.Stayed perfectly dry throughout, but only caught 1 chub, proving that the suit keeps...
Thanks Bob.I do have the Abu,but would welcome the shake and dry capability of the Wychwood.Regarding the Korum,my local tackle shop has had a few returned due to breakage which steered me in the direction of the Abu,which as you've said has been around for a while and is tried and tested.
Although not army issue,I can vouch for the waterproof/windproofing of the new ESP digital camo jacket/bib'n'brace.Spend 5 days on the Wye last week,in virtually continuous rain and remained perfectly dry.
