Well done Nathan nice fish, those blanks were justly rewarded, great photo as well. I'm managing the blanks ok, it's just the reward that is well overdue.:D
Regards
Pete.
Maintaining the Drennan handle is no different to backing off the clutch and baitrunner at the end of a session, changing blunted hooks and frayed hook lengths, changing line when necessary.I have both the old Powerstretch and the Drennan handles. If I know I'm going to be fishing off a high bank...
The D model is a more expensive and in my opinion a more substantial version of the OC.Some tackle shops only stock the OC model due to price issues. They are both,to my mind,a modern version of a sea spin.I bought the 6000D for its cranking power when using big feeders on the Thames/Wye.
I believe I can answer my own question after trawling through the "search" section. The line ratings differ as in 3lb to 6lb on the Mk1 whereas it's 2.5lb to 8lb on the Mk2.Both these rods were British made whereas the later Mk3 and 4 were/are made in China.
Thanks guys for your input.
Regards...
Thanks David and Steve,
Looks like he's got himself an immaculate Mk2.Just out of interest was there any difference in action between the Mk1 and 2,or was it purely a cosmetic revamp.
A pal of mine has just bought an immaculate 12ft 9in Drennan Tench floatrod, still with the plastic wrapping on the handle. The blank is grey in colour with rings for retaining the reel, not a winch fitting. Just wondered if anyone would know which model as in Mk1, Mk2 etc as there's nothing...
At the moment Total Coarse Fishing magazine are running a feature entitled Inner Sanctum, which gives the ins and outs of the sheds and garages of the angling elite. Jan was featured in the May edition. In the light of Jan's tackle theft I wondered if these sort of articles, informative as they...
Sufix Duraflex was superb.High breaking strain, good abrasion and fairly low diameter.Unfortunately not available any more.Unless someone knows otherwise.
I've got the Wychwood and have had no problems so far,but as this is a drawcord type of net,I wonder how it will cope in seriously flowing water.Tried the Dinsmore, and shattered the spreader block the first time I used it whilst returning a fish from a high bank.
The D discs from Felindre were £8 each and there's three of them so that idea went straight out of the window.I must say I am a little intrigued regarding the carbon upgrade.I'll check out how much the postage will be.The company in the US already state that an order under $25 will be marked as...
Used Daiwa Sensor last season with no problems. Changed to GR60 this season, mainly because of the positive comments posted by BFW members, although I should think the majority would go for Big Game.
Hope this helps.
Pete.
Steve,
Thanks for trying the swap.I did consider buying the D clutch discs to upgrade the OC spool, but the cost is dearer than a D spool. However there is a carbon upgrade kit available from the US for $8.99 for both the D and OC's.I think I'll get an OC spool,as only want to load heavy mono on...
Steve,
Do you know for fact that an OC spool will fit a D reel.Felindre were unable to verify this as although they had both spools they didn't have a reel to try them on.None of the tackle shops I use carry the same sized OC and D reels to prove this for definite.
Stephen,
Felindre seem to...
Nothing wrong with the non sensible handles though:D.Couldn't wait for the EU's to come in so got the stars'n'stripes model. The D feels and looks a much better reel than the OC,but some shops aren't stocking the D anymore due to the price difference to the OC.Still need someone to find out if...
