Tremendous news that could potentially make an enormous difference to the many proposed hydro power installations across our waterways. This is the most significant development to date and hopefully an indication to all that the Angling Trust is the only body within angling that has the power...
A blockend feeder packed with anything you like (meat, pellets, boilies) designed to not actually let feed out but just a scent trail very close to your hookbait. It works well.
It's a beautiful place Howard, you'll fall in love with it. You'll also enjoy just exploring, trying every swim that takes your fancy. There's such a diverse mixture of swims and there's a chance of a fish almost around every corner.
The Association of Barbel Fishers is holding it's annual charity fish-in on the River Trent on Friday 24th August through to Sunday 26th August in aid of the Barnsley Hospice.
We would like to extend an open invitation to Barbel Fishing World members, with the very kind permission of BFW...
Having heard a few more details on this 'story' it seems there maybe a bit more to it than we're hearing. Rumour has it that it wasn't Bob fishing at all but the photographer with him. They were doing a photo shoot for one of the angling manufacturers and getting ready for the off on the 16th...
It clearly retains a certain magic that would be sadly lost if the close season were to be abandoned. The anticipation, the building excitement and the expectation would all just melt away.
I was delighted with the way the evening panned out. The venue suited our needs but it's a shame the bar was not in a separate room to the talk.
My thanks go to Paul Whiteing for all of his assistance and encouragement, to Geoff for his brilliant job as MC and to Kevin for being the Admin...
I can only echo the sentiments of previous posters. Andy's service if first class and he's a gent. Excellent feeders that are built to last. If they can stand up to the rigors of the Trent and Wye, then you know they are good.
I'm with Ian on this one. I am a big fan of Sufix hooklengths. Having tried all sorts of hooklink material over the last 7 or 8 years, I ended up on coated braid. It's extremely abrasion resistant (I've only had 1 hooklink cut through in the last 5 years). I also like the fact it's tangle...
I would like to thank Andy Frances for giving permission to the Association of Barbel Fishers to promote this event on his site. Much appreciated Andy.

Personally I would say use a long hooklength (3 feet) and use a back lead (where suitable - and explain where's suitable) to pin everything down. Keep well away from the water and don't stamp around.
Look for cover, deep gravel runs, gaps in the weed, or little fished areas if it's a...
Spot on Alex. Information like that is only released if it corroborates their previous stance on the otter issue.
It just goes to show how healthy the fish stocks had become. Some might say that the stocks had become unnaturally large but who can say for certain. Nevertheless only around...
I must admit to thinking that the otter problem will eventually level out. Natural deaths and food stocks will force a sustainable balance. Sadly that may well mean losing some prized fish in some stretches but there ain't a lot we can do about it.
I do feel the biggest issue as far a...
