    Waterproof Recommendations

I've just switched to the Pro logic and I'm very happy. I had been using the Korum previously but the shear weight of that suit was becoming a burden.

    Zander

As I say Joe - the harshest of conditions. As we arrived in Moreton Sunday evening it started to snow and my first day on the river - Monday looked like a "Christmas in the Cotswolds " scene! I managed three that day. When I had the 9 there was a clear blue sky, brilliant sunshine and frost...

    Zander

Well I've just returned from my weeks zander fishing on the Warwickshire Avon and under the harshest of conditions I managed five zander including this absolute cracker of 9lb 9oz. I also had a few pike to 15lb. would like to thank Graham Elliott and Steve Hodges for help and advice.

    Best Barbel Books

It also sounds applicable to what I am focusing on at the moment (or have been) trying to find a monster on an underfished stretch of the Hants Avon.

I rely on the Terry Lampard mix. Third each of mature cheddar, strong blue and frozen pastry mix. Had 2 chub last pm on it in -2 conditions.

Thoughts on Barbel wising up to rigs

I respect your opinion Damian but would like to site another example, again carp related not barbel. My regular carp fishing buddy during the 90s was carp fishing a shallow lake when he had a few bleeps on his bite alarm. He looked at the rod - nothing. He then looked out to where the bait...

Thoughts on Barbel wising up to rigs

Just touching on something that Alex commented on, I always use braid right the way through but one of the things I regularly do is colour my braid with black, brown and green permanent marker pens.

Thoughts on Barbel wising up to rigs

This has happened to me several times when chub fishing. The only indication is a tiny vibration on the tip of the quiver as if a minnow was worrying the bait. I've landed a few big chub in this situation (including a 6.09 whilst fishing next to BFW contributer Alex Warren from the Royalty a...

Thoughts on Barbel wising up to rigs

Damian, I appreciate that this is barbel fishing world but here is a true carp fishing story. During the early 90s I fished exclusively for carp. One day in Autumn I had cast out two rods, each with a single hook bait on and no freebies or groundbait. I was taking a pee when I heard the bite...

    Zander

Hi Guys, My wife is due to attend a training course in Moreton on the Marsh in two weeks time. I'm planning on going with her and see it as a once in a life time opportunity to spend a week on the Warwickshire Avon to try and add a zander to my fish list. Would really appreciate any...

Thoughts on Barbel wising up to rigs

My pb off the Hants Avon was taken on a pop-up sliding hair rig. My pb off the Dorset Stour was on the rig Stu Morgan uses at the end of the "Barbel even closer" DVD ie a long shank hook with the underside of the boilie removed and the bait positioned so that the barbel basically has to take...
