Mark,
Bit of an odd year for various reasons, not as much barbel fishing or catching getting done. I guess the urgency to keep catching regular barbel after 20 odd years is just not there any longer. I am much happier to sit it out in difficult places for the chance of a real lump; and that...
Darren,
My biggest severn barbel (and many others) was caught after i'd first landed several snotties.
Barbel will often find food by observing or sensing (was gonna say hearing, but ive yet to catch a barbel with ears) other fish feeding. :-)
cheers
Paul
Mark,
Saw this and thought of you mate. ;)

Hi all,
Anyone got any experience with the Huss; i'm off down to s. east cornwall next week half term and fancy having a go for them. There is a mark nr where we are staying that is reported to give up the odd fish.:)
Planning on using 80lb pulley rigs, 6/0 hooks 30lb main line just in...
Mark,
I have the esp camo sallopettes and they are fine, if a little too warm on occasion, especially with the sundridge sleepskin underneath, but they were perfect in last years freezing conditions and as waterproof as previous esp stuff ive had. Got mine for £50.

Graham,
I did struggle to see it in the keeper ring; think that perch decided it was gonna mess that bleaks hair up. :D
Gonna try a bit harder for my first three this season; really looking forward to it.

Thanks Barry,
I think we were lucky, i dont remember getting numbers of fish like that back in the mid 90's. Hopefully a good sign for the coming years if people dont take too many for the pot. Just got to try and find the slightly better stamp of fish; they are there somewhere. We'll be...
Fantastic day cod fishing on the spring tides. Nothing big to report but three of us started early on a high water mark on the upper channel and took a couple of codling, before heading to a low water mark to fish the outgoing and incoming 2nd tide later in the day. On the walk down to the low...
Bob,
You'll have to pop down (if you have time) when we fish the point in the coming months. We may be able to pursuade you into having a go. You seriously couldnt have a better mark to have 1 mile from your home.:)

Barry,
Will do mate. Need to find a field for a bit of casting practise, loaded the 7000ic3s with cheap line to practise with as i havent used a multi for donkeys.
Off to Rame Head area at the end of october, but hoping for a good huss.
cheers for now
Paul
Barry,
Shame about the trip, i was looking forward to hearing about it. The cod seem to have arrived in the BC, with some good catches of codling and the odd double cod. I'm almost set up with rods and reels etc, just need a tripod, bait and an opportunity to get out. Have a long day session...
Not had any problems with the elips 11mm, slight variation in colour but still fairly much the same bait and same properties.
To make the paste it is best to mix with fresh egg in small batches (enough for a session at a time) with a small amount of fishmeal to help with binding.
Barbel...
Sam,
You will get a lot of tips and information from the following, which is one of the best sea fishing sites on the net. Sea Anglers tend to be a lot happier to give away catch details, so it is a good way of finding out what is being caught and where locally.

Si,
"Wurzel, All far east ABU stuff is not good, last fixed spool reel made in Sweden was the Suveran and that was !!"
Hope not, ive just bought two 7000i C3s.:( Heard good things about them, but i suppose time will tell.

Never owned a cardinal, i loved the feel and line lay on the GM300s, but that front drag clutch was dreadful. The early shimano baitrunners had an excellent front drag, but the line lay was poor. The cheaper shimanos never lasted me more than two seasons (REs are the worst ive owned and then...
