    Fraser River Sturgeon

Martin, Also interested mate as i am hoping to arrange a trip for my 50th next year (yes, yes, i know i only look 40:D). Thinking of either nile perch or comizo barbel, just need to make up my mind.:o Think the comizo fishing may be harder and i would like to catch something, thats why i'm...

    Lacking inspiration...

Mark all, Day tickets on the bank for Staits, just turn up in the carp park, find a peg and start fishing. I'd use a float for the inside margin and feeder/tip for far margin. Not a large pit and not the prettiest, but a lot of the big tench from wick, get put into staits by the carp anglers...

    Lacking inspiration...

Mark, You can only get scac day tickets for staits and gilmans, not 24hr. You can get a scac weeks ticket for £40. If you get an exchange ticket, it might be worth contacting scac to see if they will allow 24hrs usage. Or check over the rules etc on their website. Although i used to be a...

    Lacking inspiration...

Stuart, I would check out the south cerney ac and ashton keynes ac websites for their day ticket venues. Staits lake (scac) is on day ticket and is stuffed full of tincas; we were catching them about a month ago, but the blinking gas gun (for the cormorants) makes a rackett and is a bit off...

    Lacking inspiration...

Stuart, The tench are feeding on the water park on the shallower pits, just not as well as you would expect compared to recent years and the feeding spells seem to be very short and mainly in the evening. The perch are voracious at the moment after spawning and are dragging maggot bolt rigs...

    Tench and Bream Rod

Dave, I am a sucker for a players rod, this is something in between i think. They will get a second outing this evening. :D Hope my luck changes soon mate, doing my head in trying to get a double at the moment. Best excuse really is the weather. ;) although a 32 and 41-12 Mirror have been...

    Tench and Bream Rod

Dave, Yeah did think of that.:o Took the theorys for a test run yesterday and managed to get a good balance between lead and pva bag. With 12lb fluoro (not best line to cast with) a 1.5oz avid swivel flat lead and a half filled rapide pva bag, i was able to hit the target spot at around...

    Tench and Bream Rod

Picked up a set of Daiwa Theory 2.5lb 12ft carp rods this afternoon; nice action and not stiff in the top section. Perfick for distance tincas. :D I reckon they will be spot on for 100 yard plus casts with a pva bag and 2oz or a 2oz feeder. Hinders offer price £70 notes. I love fickle carp...

The secret life of Fox rods

Chris, I think Pete Tesch still uses his old fox 1.75 barbel plus rods, i borrowed one once when i snapped the tip on one of my infinities when putting his rods in my car. I was quite impressed with them after managing to pull a manic carp out of a thames weir on one. I had a set of Fox...

    Tench and Bream Rod

This is a problem that i have tench fishing a local 10 acre pit; whilst i love my 1.75 test barbel infinities, they cannot comfortably cast 2oz of lead and a pva bag of goodies the distance i need them to, so i have been looking around at a pair of rods that have softer fish playing abilities...

    Rods for sale

Hi all, 2 new (used twice) Rovex John Wilson Avon/Quiver Rods with extension 11ft/13ft, two tip sections, 3 quivertips, bought for perch fishing, but found to be a bit overgunned for stripeys. Will suite chub/tench/barbel £75 the pair, collection only or will deliver 1/2 hr from Swindon...

    Culling illegally stocked predators ?

Paul, hearing you loud and clear, but dont be surprised if the moderation team, in view of your latest threat, decide that it is your cryptic digs that we wish to hear no more. <edit : This user is no longer a member of the forum - BFW Team>

    Tench Tincas

Lovely Fish, both of them, Nathan, surprised that fish is so gravid so early into spring. My campaign for tench starts when we get back from cornwall week after next, was hoping that we were a good month to 6 weeks away from spawning time. :( atb Paul

    Tench Tincas

Looking forward to tinca time on the water park, hoping for a double, but you just cant help enjoying them at any size. Clear water stalking in the edge, maggots, rod, bag, net and mat. Simples!!:D

    Perch

Steve, Thats a stunner matey well done and appreciate you putting it up. Hope you didnt mind me asking to see it.:) Thames? You can dodge that question if you like, i did. :D atb Paul

    Perch

Thanks for comments chaps, Steve well done on the 3-10 (will we see it?). Martin, good luck for next season. atb Paul

    Perch

River season over for me, 29 Perch over 2lbs and 11 3s to a new pb of 3lbs 11oz. Best Perch fishing i have experienced to date and all in just over three weeks. :D I caught the 3-11 twice and two other 3s twice. Still have some still waters to focus on over the next few weeks and probably into...

    Record Equaling Chub

Neill, That seems to clear it up; for me anyway. Congratulations on a stunning fish; as to whether it breaks the record or not doesnt concern me either as the fish is clearly worthy of more than our deliberations. It is simply a stunning fish in it's own right and one to be rightly proud...

    Record Equaling Chub

Tend to agree with you mate; was it 9-5, or 9-4 and 3/4oz. Silly saying one thing on the video (9-5 incl bag) and claiming another.

    Record Equaling Chub

Thats what i heard him say also, but ive just tried weighing a similar plastic bag (which i think is what was used to weigh the chub) and i cant get it to register any weight on my Salter or Ron Thomson Digitals or avons. Be interesting to read the fully story when it appears in AT or AM.
