Tench Tincas

Very enjoyable day last week fishing with Steve Sorrell each catching half a dozen or so tench from a crystal clear lake.

Steve had one of about 4lb taken by a large pike at his feet. Estimated about 20lb it held on till just before I could reach it with the net.

Might take along the pike rod friday........;)

Six more tincas yesterday but had to leave as they came on again about 5pm.

Soon time to try again for a 10lb float caught one.

Looking forward to tinca time on the water park, hoping for a double, but you just cant help enjoying them at any size. Clear water stalking in the edge, maggots, rod, bag, net and mat. Simples!!:D

Managed this one on the float Wednesday-7lb 8oz. Although full of spawn, she wasn't shedding any (if she had I would have returned the fish immediately) and went back very strongly. My biggest tench on the float.

Lovely Fish, both of them,

Nathan, surprised that fish is so gravid so early into spring. My campaign for tench starts when we get back from cornwall week after next, was hoping that we were a good month to 6 weeks away from spawning time. :(

Not mine.

But a friends.

Chicken Wings and Pizza at 6pm followed by a few glasses of Rjoca.

It's not an easy water though. 2 blanks to a bite.!!!

Good angling Graham, and there's me thinking it was a tad early for tench.

Probably some big carp to be caught on the float there too. ;)

Doesn't really matter if you blank when you're being served hot food and vino. :)

That's a beauty Graham, the proper way ;) Good luck with your double quest. It's grim oop north - the big ones haven't woken up yet, my target is a Yorkshire 9.....

Garham E, if you mean a really, really big rdaa pit then, good luck. I found the tench fishing got cosiderably worse after the 2007 floods, so much so I didn't renew this year.

Cheers Graham. I had this one on the pin/float there as well, but too much like hard work when the wind blows...

Pretty pleased to get this on the float and match rod as there well after a very long fight...

Leaney stocked in 1957...

Dave. Well it did a 9.14 last week I understand. But we didn't get a touch.....for 9 hours. Nearly went and fished the static Thames weir nearby.......;)

It generally does nothing till late April/May but reckoned (wrongly) the warm weather might have woken them up and moved them down to the first areas.
