It's then just a state of mind not the state of your tackle that counts? I agree there should be no compromise with reels line end tackle, but really a 12ft a rod such as a 2lb t.c Korum is perfectly adequate and for me rather liberating the the cost is c.£100 as opposed to £400.

To be honest I can never see why such concerns over very expensive carbon is that much better than any off the shelf rods, especially when chucking heavy leads into big rivers such as the Severn or Trent?

With you on that Jon, just to think many civvies would give their right arm just to glimpse an Otter in the wild.
