    Where you going ??

Fair play kicking off on the Dee! Thought you might want to get a few barbel under your belt first and get an idea of your tactics and approach etc before you start on a challenging river like that.

    Dead maggots for trotting?

I've followed the approach Bob suggested and found it's worked great, without giving them any air, just keeping them in the air tight bag. I picked the tip up off the late great Jan Porter.

    Spoppers

I was there too that night Neil. Dave is a legend and thankfully still fishing🙏 His rationale about it's use, especially post spawning is still very relevant now👍

    New season Bait drop.

It's even better out of date, it's had more time to mature in the tin!😀

Peregrine Specialist Flood Rods x 2

2 Peregrine Specialist Flood Rods for sale. Built by Roger at Peregrine Rods, these are excellent Rods for fishing bigger rivers, they will cast 8oz as far as you want, but don't feel overgunned, and have a lovely through action. The rods have full cork handles and Fuji DPS reel seats. They...

Wanted advice on River tripods and bite alarms with receiver

As Simon said, If you are looking for a tripod, the Prologic Tri Sky Pod for the Trent, the 3 rod version, with the wider buzz bars, is a very solid and substantial bit of of kit. I use mine when I can't get away with 48inch Fox Storm Poles and korum butt cups. I've got Delkim txi-ds Alarms...

    Compact chairs

I've got one too, best chair I've ever owned, and I've been through a lot in my time!

    Compact chairs

I think it's very much horses for courses. When I was fishing the Teme and Warwickshire Avon a lot, where you're rotating swims, it was travel light. Rod, landing net, rucksack with unhooking mat, and bankstick. Now I'm spending increasingly more time on the Trent on longer sessions, I take the...

    Cadence or free spirit

Keith You may get more responses if you could be more specific about which FreeSpirit and Cadence rods you are talking about.

    Greys and Cadence

Although I don't think they're as good as the original Korum Transition holdalls, what Huan is suggesting would be a good call as they offer more protection than a standard quiver, especially for your new Freespirits and Thunnuses, and have a far bit of room😀

    Hi, new member

There are some really good YouTube videos by a guy called 'Robs Angling' on the Middle Severn, he fishes a lot of BAA waters👍

    Sonik angle-r 12ft 2lb tc rods

Just to clarify for you Jim, if it's Hoveringham where your mate is taking you, it's not the Tidal, that's Middle river between Gunthorpe and Fiskerton.

    Sonik angle-r 12ft 2lb tc rods

    No worries Jim!👍

    Sonik angle-r 12ft 2lb tc rods

I don't know about the rods but would say 2lb tc may be a little undergunned for the Tidal. @Terry Harman has a pair of 13ft Korum 2.75lb tc Big Water rods for sale on the classifieds here for £60 that would be ideal for you to start with.
