Another Harrison alternative is the 2 1/4 standard specialist. I’ve got to admit that mine haven’t had a good enough test yet (either barbelling or tenching) because my Chimera 2s do nearly everything in that respect. But if you’re after a powerful but progressive actioned rod have a word with...
Good point. Possibly due to the tench ‘season’ being so short or the carp waters having waiting lists that are decades long? And in reality, are there even that many venues that fall into the bracket we’re talking about? Genuine question as I am very much not in the know
Snap to all of that Joe, just swap in Yorkshire gravel pits for your mere and casters and worms for your corn and boilies! Harder and harder to find/access good waters though
I really enjoyed fishing the same place as you, Joe. Some of them are just the most ancient looking things, though I guess being buried in peat for decades would have that effect! The potential of hundreds/thousands of other unfished and inaccessible waters in Scandinavia will probably never be...
There seems to be loads of recent interest in custom/hand built rods and I’ve still got this. I also have a 1.25lb rod with an additional quiver tip top section as well as the top section of 1lb Sportex rod, the bottom half of which broke - £100. They’d be nice for tench and chub as well as...
Hi All,
Another alternative for a bendy but powerful rod are Dave Lumb’s Standard Specialists. I don’t know which Harrison blank he builds them on but I’m sure one of you lads will!
Three of these that I‘ve used for a couple of springs tenching. Unmarked with spare spools and in their boxes. Without checking I think each reel’s spools are filled with 10lb and 15lb Synchro. £90 each or £250 for the three with a bit towards postage if you want them sending but collection...
A good fishing camera in good condition with flip-round screen, fantastic battery life and comes with a plug-in wireless remote and battery charger. It does not have a memory card or a case. £120 £90
SOLD Powershot S5IS. 8 mp, 12x zoom, flip round screen. Taken loads of good self takes with this but upgraged a couple of times since and so it’s been left in the cupboard. Comes with rechargeable AAs, a charger and a case. £40
Thanks for that Jason. It was the Tackle Box stats that made me ask, the 12lb diameter:strength is good. I’ve heard good things about Gardner Pro, too.
Bill, if I could find some Pro Clear I wouldn’t be asking! But it appears that the Gold Label Tackle lines are no more?
I think I’m one of the...
