Problem there is you have the danger of every man and his dog using the same bait as you.
When I’m down the river I’m pretty confident I’m the only person using the recipe I mix up.
JB also has a number of vids on YouTube which are super helpful, he also replies to emails with detailed responses.
He is a big endorser of “exact measurements” so make sure you buy some of the plastic syringes if you get any of his flavours. I can highly recommend the newly re-issued...
I’ve struggled on a specific part of the Warks Avon for for over a year without a single barbel.
I got some JB baits Taste F2 mix and Search 4 flavour and made up a load of boilies (as loose feed) and had two fish in two nights.
I have every confidence in the bait now and primarily use it as...
So, this pin has lasted nn’years on the planet and then the first outing to the river with me and I’ve managed to lose the screw that holds the release lever pin in place !!!
Gawd knows how though as I didn’t knock / drop it at all.
Does anyone have one spare please that I could buy off them ?
Last few times I’ve fished a popular Warks Avon stretch there has been a guy diving for Roman artefacts.
No problem with this but he swims right up to your pallet and doesn’t have a care in the world, might be a bit different when a 6oz lead drops on his head !!!
Thanks for the confirmation.
Dumb question alert - why would you use a 1m please ? I thought the whole point of using braid is that you are in direct contact with the weight (plasticine) & bait and the braid allows you to “feel” what’s going on at the business end ?
They look similar but the Drennan looks to have a separate top section which would be useful for smaller items (without having to access the main rucksack).
But then the Saber has slots for banksticks which the Drennan doesn’t.
The Saber can be had for £45, cheaper when eBay have their 10%...
Saber Supra Compact Rucksack for me.
Perfect for roving as you can clip / strap roll mats and other bits onto it.
Used mine for 3 years now and wouldn’t be without it.
Thanks for confirming.
Would this be a better alternative please ?

Taking delivery of a Speedia Wide Drum later this week and looking at some 30lb braid for it to roll some meat.
Can anytime advise if this is suitable please specifically @Terry Simner ...
I have the proper Drennan isotopes but the green clips are a pain to use.
I’ve just been using these disposable ones from eBay and so far they’re been great...
I’ve tried boilies with little success over the years.
This summer I got some John Baker Taste F2 base mix and added some Search 4 flavour and had two barbel on two evenings using them as loose feed.
The one thing I do like about boilies is the ease at which you can make them at home which...
It’s the only bait I use to be honest and have 100% confidence in them above all other baits. Shorter hair for Chub, longer hair for Barbel.
I know others say “they don’t work” but think they’re just miffed at the barrel shape vs. the original elyptical shape (which I assume became costly to...
