Gardner landing net pole/folding pan net

I've got the net, Julian. The 26" version. I like it. I did look at the 30" but it was just too big for my needs. Nice and light and easily moved around. The mesh is deep enough for me, and I've had a 13lber in it, so ok size wise. My only criticism is when folded in half it is a little awkward...

    Where you going ??

There's been a post on the Scunthorpe Facebook page saying they may not open Ladypit up for the start of the season. Not enough water in the river.

    Where you going ??

With the new season rapidly approaching, where are you going first trip ?? As I'm no longer a member of the BMAA, I'll have to venture up to the Newark area of the Trent. Ladypit fm might be the first visit. Nip over after work for a few hours. My right shoulder is playing up a little, so...

Advice on what base liquid for a glug

50-50 Glycerine-water should work, Ray. My carp fishing mate uses that ratio to flavour his hookbaita. He also adds a colour as well. Still PVA friendly too.

    Large comfy chair

I can vouch for the Nash Indulgence high back, Andrew. It's a very nice chair to sit on, too nice sometimes, as I've nodded off in it a few times. With it being that little bit higher, it helps to keep your head out of the wind. It's big though, I wouldn't want to carry it any distance, but I...

Wanted advice on River tripods and bite alarms with receiver

I'll buck the trend and say I tend to use a tripod most of the time. A Korum one. It's not perfect, but I find it easy to set up and it's good enough for what I want. I carry banksticks as well, simply because I can't be @rsed to take them out my holdall, but very rarely use them.

    Reel for waggler fishing

I bought a Daiwa Connoisseur 14' power float last year. I teamed it up with a 4012 TDR and found it perfect. I've only used it a couple of times, both times with a stick float. But it's a very nice set up IMO. I sometimes use a stepped up pellet waggler rod with a waggler for Barbel. That's...

    Rod set ups

Yes, without a doubt. I couldn't sit behind two different rods.

    Boilies for Tench

Not sure if anyone will be interested, but 3FT are now doing Tench boilies. https://www.threefoottwitch.co.uk/tinca-treats-34-c.asp I'm not connected in any way.

    Rod insurance recommendations

Worth checking some of the small print on polices. When I had my match gear covered, the policy stated my kit wasn't insured if left unattended, which was awkward for the match draw. Also, it wasn't insured if it got damaged in use, so you'd have to blagg it if you did. Single item cover...

    Tench helicopter rigs

Here's mine. A length of tungsten tubing, a buffer bead on the feeder end covering the swivel, A QC swivel and an ESP bead above the QC swivel. The ESP bead is just tight enough to hold the QC swivel where I want it, but loose enough to move if I get a break. Although the buffer bead is also...

    Advice on new rods please?

Another vote for the Basia's. I've got the 2.75s and really like them, I find myself using them more and more on the middle and upper Trent, they are that nice. I used them on a flooded middle Trent last year lobbing 8oz out and playing fish, and they were a pleasure to use.

    What are you favourites hooks?

I wonder sometimes if I actually need a hook...... :( Joking aside, I bought a job lot of ESP Raptors a few years ago, before they were discontinued. Very similar to the Drennan Barbel hooks. The Raptors are probably my go to hook. I also have the Bank tackle ones as well.

Course Fishing Tackle For Sale or Swap!

Hiya, Russ. FB market place has some buyers on there that will buy whole sets of equipment, you just need to find them. I'm in the same boat, as my match tackle has laid dormant for well over a year, but I just can't seem to let it go. But I very much doubt I'll ever use it again. There is a...

    Don’t tell em PIKE! 🤦‍♂️

Welcome, Russ. I'm no expert either, but I think what you've got kit wise is pretty good to be honest. As you go along you'll know if something isn't right. That's the time to change it. Nothing wrong with what you've bought IMO. Only thing you may want to consider is a beefier rod if you plan...

    Freespirit Tamer Power Float 15'

I've got the Daiwa Connoisseur pro power 14' match rod, Chris. It's a good rod IMO, and I've used it for Barbel on the Trent. Daiwa do a 15' as well. May be another rod for you to consider.

    Touch legering and rolling baits

I'll buck the trend, but I use a Daiwa extra power commercial method feeder rod. 11'6" long. (simply because I'd already got one) Three quiver tips, of which I use the 2oz one, coupled with a Daiwa 3012 TDM reel. Nice and lightweight and has landed fish up to 11lbs, in a real hit and hold swim.
