I had my 11ft 1.75 Torrix delivered a few months ago from Mark Tunley. It is for me the most perfectly balanced rod I have ever used. It is definitely not a through action rod and has alot of backbone on the bottom, yet it is tippy enough to see even the smallest indications.

Agree with all, pallatrax hooks are fantastic. I managed to buy a stock of 'the hook' before end of life and it is super. I also use Drennan super specialist, which IMO is just as good, super sharp and very strong.
For me it's not about the diameter, if you are worried about spooking the swim use a back lead. If you are worried about snags, then a decent mono is much better abrasion resistance. Only benefit is bite detection and who needs that targeting barbel. For small rivers, mainline braid poses more...
