just a catch up on this thread, the fox eos rods arrived on Wednesday morning and a big thanks to st Ives tackle for the excellent service, anyway they look to be identical to the royals with the rods being rung exactly the same but did remove the top rings and refitted with anti frap rings...
Thanks Stewart on the strength of you confirming what my cousin had been telling me since my problem occurred I ordered two fox eos 2.25 rods this afternoon from st Ives tackle for less than £100 and if your right and I have a good feeling on this it will be a bargain and I'll be over the moon ...
Thanks for your reply Kevin, that looks to be the way I'm likely to go , will have a look at tackle box with a view to obtain a new seat ready to proceed in the close season . I know it may seem a little strange to make all the fuss over a middle of the range discontinued rod but I'm sure that...
cheers Richard, will try and get the season over and hopefully get a second hand section failing that I think I will have a go myself as am quite good with my hands or so the Mrs used to say lol ,I did say used to lol ,nothing to lose everything to gain as they say .
Thanks Richard I might look at getting the one butt section repaired in the close season, at the moment it's usable with a bit of care , I'm not to bothered about them not being identical as I would still benefit from in my opinion the superb action of the rod, hopefully a butt section or a used...
I am absolutely gutted that I have over tightened the reel grip on one of my beloved fox 2.25 tc barbel rod and was hoping that maybe anyone on the forum had one for sale or even a but section, the other alternative is to have a new reel fitting fitted so if anyone has any recommendations to get...
Has anyone any info or recommendations for these as coming into cold feet time of the year, and do they offer an alternative to having the normal thermal boots and wellies. Cheers
What is the difference in specs to the shimano o.c and shimano D reels , I know that the OC stands for oceanic dont know what the D stands for , at the moment I use 5500 Lc xtb's so which size is more compatible in size to these reels the 6000 or 8000
Fishing last night and got to thinking about hard pellets and wondered if a barbel was actually capable of munching a pellet say a 14mm halibut or actually eating one, be interesting to see different views.
Julian used it twice on the tidals, first time had a couple of barbel and the inevitable eel, second time only one barbel but I suspect I had a bit of crab trouble as in places you could see the mesh had been attacked but they didn't get the meat,I used hot spicy sausage meat that was quite soft...
Thanks Chris ,bought some fine and done a test run in the shed and beginning to wonder how I've only just found this stuff as it was the small fish problem I wanted to get around, much obliged for the info.
been thinking of trying the
Fox arma mesh , has anyone any experience with this stuff probably using for meat but I see there is a fine mesh and a stiffer one so any views thankfully recieved.
thanks for your help chaps, I did try the 15lb sensor but found it a bit springy a completely different animal to the 12lb , the 12lb seeming to be a lot smoother and seemed to spool a lot better and plenty strong enough never had a fish snap it yet
I play my fish with the drag , I know a lot of people back wind but each to his own, but for quick changes to drag pressure I find with the carbon washers is minute in comparison with the felt washers which suits me,
After getting a bad spool of my last line I decided to have a change so went for ordinary sensor in 12lbs last year which I found to be an excellent line but just wondering what the views are on sensor verses hyper sensor ,is there any advantage in paying the extra, line will be used mainly on...
