Scrap the close season Its a glorious day today instead of driving my taxi around the polluted streets of London I could be filling my lungs full of clean fresh air on a river bank,selfish maybe but I know where I would rather be.

Just read a article by John levell on his Avon diary site re otters & fencing,I've just had my worse season ever fishing on the wasingestate and to top it all the estate have started erecting fencing around their lakes it looks like a prison and also puts more pressure on a already sorry river...

My set are working ok,mind you I haven't had many barbel to weigh,when I get the scales out I do tend to hold my breath just in case they've gone pear shaped.Good luck to all.

Bait is a confidence thing,when fish are having it they will take anything IMO.When you use a bait and catch barbel in dire conditions ie cold,frost,snow it gives you total confidence in that particular bait also luck plays a part having your bait in the water when the fish decides to eat.when...
