    Spam watch

Still prefer plumrose ham and pork over the softer spam to fish with , even that seems to have been a bit didled with , since the tin size shrinkage a while a ago , could it be the Brexit jitters whereby suppliers are cutting cost with ingredients and volume of products , just look at the size...

    What's your honest assessment?

The River Dearne still has some good fish, but since the river authority allowed some sub contractor's to hack down many fish sheltering trees /roots a few years ago it gave less shelter from birds such as cormorants and goosanders to plough up and down in often gin clear water. I remember...

    The smaller rivers

A semi roving approach for me with a bit of loose feed , mainly freshly cooked hemp and a few bits of meat , if fishing that bait. Bait a few likely looking spots, try the furthest one for about 30 mins, if it does produce a fish i would keep fishing it and the same with the other lightly...

Are there any longshank beaked barbed or micro-barb hooks worth using

After loosing a couple of good fish over the last season , went back to using longshank hooks, only not having a beaked point they can blunt or turn over the point on gravel, I have always liked the long shank hooks for hook hold on fish. For cod fishing I have two offset curved in wards...

    Crap Reel handles.

Will have to get another regal as a back up, very robust with a chunky bail arm, like the click, click, sound as a fish takes line on the baitrunner.

    Crap Reel handles.

Managed to get a double handled one ,still left with one that the handle has parted company at the ball joint, the old regals had much more robust handles in my opinion .

    Bendy Barbel

Not always on shallow venues , note the hump on my profile picture , some are not as miss-shaped as each others, some rivers like the Calder and Don have a range of stumpy fish where the tail is like a manx cats tail .
