    Sea Bass

I have heard alot of good things about the IMA komomo...apart from the price. On the subject of returning fish, my system is quite simple, anything of illegal size goes back, anything over 4lbs goes back, anything inbetween will normally go back unless I want some bass for whatever reason...in...

    Sea Bass

Here's a nice fish taken at dawn this morning 'off the top' with a lucky craft sammy (where do they dream these names up?) 6lb 13oz yes...I am aware that my toe nails need a clip!

    Sea Bass

and here is the bass i promised in the previous post...sorry bout the rubbish quality photo...and the MEGA secrecy...can't be too carefull...especially when netsmen keep their ears so close to the ground. Scales went 9lb 13oz, however i am going to check them in the morning because i think it...

    Barbel on the fly...

fantastic! remember watching a chap on my local 'fly only' stretch (which i use to fish with pellets from the far bank) do battle with a near 9lber on a 3/4wt brook rod...and he managed to beat it without getting showered with shattered carbon fibre. Took it on a gold head pheasant tail nymph...

Anyone use 4000d baitrunners with an i-Power?

I can second the 4000 DLFAs, really nice reels that feel solid in the hands. But if you want the best...........get a speedia!:p

    What makes barbel so special???

I fish for just about every species (except bream), and each species stands out from the others in one particular area...the barbel's expertise is most definitely their fight.

    Coated braid stripping tool?

lost a cracking grassy a few years back to the knot slipping on striptease, tested a few knots afterwards and found them all to slip before braking (grinner knot)...haven't used any coated braids much since, always used to use teeth though...might try it again but just loop it.

    Line for Wallis Casting

Thanks for the info guys...usefull stuff. took delivery of that speedia today, after cleaning 40 years of grease and filth of it (and then adding some fresh) i have found it to be in perfect mechanical order, not even a hint of wobble and (although it doesn't prove much) spins for nearly 2 mins...

I use powerpro for alot of my sea fishing...its excellent stuff but i do have worries with using it in my small river barbelling. Such as hit and hold swims (like the shock absorbing quals of mono/fluoro), and abrasion resistance (although i could use a rubbing leader). I might give x-line a go...

Took an increadible 11lb fish on the river Hope in sutherland last week...a feat that i am sure i will never better in this country...Just wish i had my camera with me but as usual it was sitting in my suitcase in the lodge...tierra del fuego anyone?

    Full Moon - any thoughts

not a fan of full moons, spend a lot of time bass fishing and they hate it...having said that we have caught in bright moon light on the odd occassion, same with sea trout...mind you my biggest ever was caught last week in scotland and came in full daylight (11lb!), so who knows. its always...

    Line for Wallis Casting

Hi Guys, I have just learnt how to wallis cast in the garden, I cannot believe how effective it is, and how easy it is to be accurate consistantly, knocks spots of a fixedspool at short range...however the line i am using isn't very good for it. Was wondering what lines you guys recommend...

    Sea Bass

Yeah, its a good forum (if you don't mind bickering!), lots of usefull tips on there. I bought loads of slug-gos and had tons of follows, but no takes (apart from a solitary sea trout), Took them on the boat the other day for jigging for cod over rough ground, 7.5'' sandeel colour...they...
