Congratulations to Steve Hill on the new Yorkshire Derwent river record at 13lb 2oz.
Many struggle to catch on there, never mind doubles and the ousting of the long standing river record.
I am still using my 15 year old Gold Label V and U heads: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Gold+Label+rod+rests&espv=2&biw=1280&bih=939&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=PQYPVIW4B8bcOZPDgbAI&ved=0CFkQsAQ
I had objected to the scheme when originally announced - the report that came back from the EA was a mealy mouthed office based survey.
The scheme in place on the Derwent (Howsham Mill) has chewed up fish and the outlet is now causing the opposite back to collapse due to the redirection of flow...

When I can find the time to travel, I love to fish the Dove.
Never caught small fish but I have caught Signal Crayfish and their presence is always frequent.

But when amd if they are appropriate, otherwise Free Spirit and Okuma EPBs
Oh dear, another Barbel Society thread runs off the rails.
Does it matter?

= just an observation.
You can check after you cast out but in certain circumstances I can see this causing problems while playing a fish..for instance, fish runs and draws line then turns back on itself..for a moment there is a slack in the line and then this problem could occur...
The waiting list is now about three years. Yes they have a range of waters to suit all types of anglers. Yes their waters are bailiffed. Of all the waters I fish (bar one Yorkshire river "syndicate" - theirs are the best for lack of litter and undisturbed fishing. As long as you read your rule...
British Waterways dredge as well to allow boat access to the locks.
Trent at Collingham was done this summer...
Dredging is not the answer to flooding in most cases as all it does it move the flood risk further downstream - management of wetlands and uplands (eg Tree planting) has been found...
Ade,
you want something to discuss.
Here is one of my rare posts these days (on the Tidal Trent forum):
The Barbel have not been the only things going mad: or should that be just crazy!
