Cheers Dave - that looks very close to the part! Only concern is the "power" tag which seems to be de rigeur these days for puddle pig fishers. Have you got one, or had a wiggle?
I've got a preston carnonactive c-series feeder rod which is a brilliant rod but is three pieces and is a proper...
Hi
I would like a rod which meets the following specifications:
11ft (could be 10ft but not 12ft)
2 identical length pieces with quiver on
quiver tips of 1oz and 2oz (ideally glass)
Not "heavy" or "power" - it's for close in river work.
Any recommendations?
Lovely graham. Similar extreme weather here in Brittany. Once the rain stops the fish play ball and a 35 on the pin and the stalking rod yesterday in the sunshine was what I love about fishing in a nutshell.
I rested a barbel in my wychwood barbel net recently for maybe twenty minutes whilst someone came to take some pictures.
It's the first time I've done it and I wouldn't normally but it was a very special fish.
I was delighted how well it went and was rewarded with a well rested barbel...
Agreed. I had about 17 barbel on the same hook whilst fishing caster on the Trent a couple of years ago! I'm out now. Haven't yet found a replacement i'm entirely happy with for big fish in size 14 or so.
Pal had a couple of the new ones straightened by barbel recently.
I didn't like the XT4000FA. As previously mentioned, ridiculously flimsy bail arm which cancelled out the pleasure of the excellent clutch.
The sooner they bring back the 5000 size the better though. The 4000 just don't balance barbel rods for me.
I bought one recently to replace the old style one which had given a few years of good service.
It is tremendously lightweight, reasonably comfortable and looks quite robust.
The extending legs haven't failed me yet, but they certainly don't look as well made as the old ones.
Well done Mike. Any barbel from the Wharfe is special. It is a very different river from the time that three whiskers was roaming around. A double is extremely special ;)
