The original SS Duo rods were £129.99 new. I know this as I had both models.
Ive seen mint versions like these go for much more than Andy is asking for them on ebay.
The 1.25lb TC rods are very good Chub rods, with quality fittings (inc the 4 supplied quiver tips) and pretty bomb proof in my...
I bought the Tackle Box version and find it too tight a fit and also not made for larger reels.
I tried to give Drennan some feedback on a recent FB post re their new specialist rods, asking why they only do specialist sleeves for 12’ and 3 piece/10’ rods. Obviously no reply, but I did receive...
That’s a good point, I support procure to pay business process/IT systems for a living and you can bet the likes of AT will have far better payment terms than a small independent retailer i.e. payment due 60 days from invoice date.
The Drennan example I referred to, was originally to support...
Re Angling Direct, even if sale prices are comparable with other tackle outlets, you’d expect their sales margins to be much better, based on simple economies of scale. If as an example they put an order into Shimano or Daiwa for a 1000 reels, compared to my local tackle shop, who may only buy...
I can do you one in A1 condition, with snag ears fitted. Colour is blue or purple for £50 (New is around £85 with snag ears).
PM me if interested please?
I have 3, but only ever use 2.
I once caught 44 Barbel, 6 Chub and a Perch on that exact same pole from the River Teme, at Ham Farm! My greatest ever Barbel haul and I had to empty the keep net at lunch time and start again 😁
Sorry to mention it, but great memories 👍🏻
Watched One Bite earlier, I never realised how few specimen fish there actually in the Kings Wear Fishery, on the River Lea. Also clonking Chub at the end.
The short film, A Pleasure Angler, also excellent 👍🏻
I’ve just subscribed to this again and catching up on the latest content. The film, A Worm On One End….. is incredible when he hooks that Barbel at the end. Happens to me on a regular basis, when quiver tipping worms for Perch on the Severn. I lived through every moment of it 🫣🫣🫣
In fact, I’ll...
Further to the above, this is from a Drennan FB post from Feb of this year:
Drennan’s Mike Davidson has recently returned from another memorable grayling session up on the Scottish rivers whilst putting a prototype 17ft Acolyte through its paces.
He told us” I’m so glad I was committed to...
The other Acolyte 17ft was mentioned in a Drennan Grayling article. It was only referred to as a 17ft prototype.
Personally I’m hoping its more of a Plus model, as want it for my river Perch fishing.
I used to be a member a long time ago and wouldn’t joint again. I believe they are out of touch with many Barbel anglers and especially when they were pushing for Otter culls, which is a complete nonsense and one which will put angling at odds with the general public. The rant at the Angling...
Currently they only do one 17ft Acolyte float rod, its described as neither the Ultra or Plus, as I believe its somewhere between the two?
Have you seen something definitive stating that the prototype model will be a Specimen version, or again is it unique in action due to the long length?
Just putting the Acolyte Plus out there, rather than the Ultra or Specimen versions.
I use the 15ft Plus for my winter Perch fishing on the Severn, having landed river Perch on it to 3.15lb along with bonus/accidental Chub over 5lb and Barbel to 9.8lb, I can honestly say I love it.
Handled the...
You’ve pretty much summed it up there. I agree its a brilliant piece of kit and my 3 ME handle is around 15 years old and its never developed an issue. After every few trips, I take a piece of kitchen towel soaked in warm water/fairy liquid and shove it through. It comes out of the other end...
For float fishing and for years, I’ve spooled my pins with 40 to 50 ME of 6.6lb Silstar Match Team line and I’ve never experienced your described issue.
What pin are you using out of interest?
