My new Camera is a Canon G1X, also at the same time bought a Canon speedlite flash unit to go with it. Early sample pictures are superb, quality of them is outstanding, would say that it is better than the lower end Digital SLR's. SLR has the advantage of lens changing but that is not what I...
Gosh, thanks for all the speedy replies.
Frog Fluro and Grand Max Soft seem to be top of my list to check out although lot's of you have your own prefered ones and it's all about what you have faith in.
I might also add that the stretch of water I will be fishing will be very clear in the...
Ah yes, I mentioned this in my first post, not seen it but I suspect it is softer than most. I won't be happy I guess until I have some in my hands. Will get some and give a good bench test first. If it fails my tests then it will end up in the big tuppaware (spelling) box with all the other...

Shinning a torch on a white piece of Peacock quill for Tench in the late 70's.
I suppose it's not the done thing nowdays but it was done a lot then.
Spent all night and doing that, was magic when the float lifted or just zipped away. Gosh, going home with tired eyes on the Green line bus...
No worries Ian.
The picture in your profile is really nice, nice one! hope your getting out before the river season ends.
With regards to this thread, I get a touch of nausea with a certain person who dribbles verbally and quotes a 16th century French metaphysics and Mathematics philosopher...
Bin figure of 8 knot, it is unreliable with mono, it's ok on coated braids and normal braid. Use what is called "No slip loop knot" (google it). This knot is used by big game anglers and it's nearly 100% in knot strength, superb knot.
Never use a figure of 8 for big fish, it's ok for match...
