Get yourself some off the shelf rods and spend the extra money on bait, tickets and fuel. A rod only needs to put the bait in the right place and be able to land what you hook. Most of the time it's sitting on a rod rest.

Derek, the top link is very similar to those I purchased. Regrettably the measurement tolerances aren't great hence those I purchased were like me, too fat round the middle 🤪

Tried um in both 5010s and 6010s but the spindle that goes into the reel is too large to fit Simon. I bought um from China having measured the spindle diameter on mine and surprisingly they aren't what they were supposed to be. So sorry m8 I can't help ya

I've got two spare double handles at home, can't remember if they fit my 5010s. In France till Sunday so I'll have a look when I get back

Personally I don't give a poop, the only reason for them to be in a stillwater is via a flood and we all know barbel aren't streamlined or powerfull enough to beat a lickle bit of current 😉

Still use my John Wilson Avon - superb rod, but I'm not a tackle tart. I use stuff that does what I need it to do until it doesn't and don't care if it's older than god and looks old and knackered like me

Just get some trout pellets, soak in a bit of hot water overnight and mould into a paste
