This forum is in no danger of folding due to lack of input. Others may, there is a perfectly respectful attitude to members on here and if anyone gets a little above themselves they are knocked back. There was a time when BFW was infiltrated by some who wanted BFW to fold by flooding the forum...
I have the 1.75. Actually never used it, bought it from a closing down tackle shop for £70 half retail price. The blank is quite chunky but with it being Drennan it's quality. Your 1.25 is a rod I would rather prefer. The rod is c.2012.
You have never served in the Forces have you?😄 'Compo' supplies in the field were unique but I can assure you SPAM was fine dining. Personally I find it fine to eat, you can fry, or out of the tin into a sandwich.. mmmm..
What I do is set my sights on Chub mainly now and any Barbel is a bonus such is the nature of the Warks Avon. I also enjoy other species and roach and just lately perch are great sport , but the never ending flooded rivers have been the problem for me.
It's probably a good thing to have a change of venue Simon to fire up the enthusiasm. Do the Barbel congregate to the upper reaches for spawning early season as they do on the Severn ?
Well if it's Barbel you want and they are a rarity I can see your point. I would happily pay that and more for a ticket on the Trent that have a Barbel or two. But it seems even the mighty Trent is now patchy.
Poor blokes first post too😏 Welcome Jeremy anyway...I can't really help except that I have heard they do work certainly on the Thames with an angler on here.
Barbel have a catholic taste and for me I haven't found anything better than luncheon meat and pellet.
The lack of spawning activity the last few years is a worry...these larger females I believe are not breeding and just seem to accept their fate.
Given barbel spawn in the open season can anyone recall a female with spawn capture?
