Old Daiwa powermesh twin tip

Martin Osmond

Senior Member & Supporter
I stupidly sold a pair of these last year, absolutely loved them. Mine were 12ft 1.5lb, does anyone know if they did the same rod in 1.25lb?

Yes,
I have a 1.25 lb powermesh specialist twin tip.
It's 11' 9 inches.
Comes with a quiver tip top as well with 3 different quiver tips.
It's been in my loft for about 12 years with 3 other daiwa rods that I nearly sold altogether last year but for a total time waster!
They remain in my loft!
I haven't used them for many years but I remember catching a 12.10 barbel on the specialist rod years ago from Aldermaston Mill which was a PB then.
I went back the following week and had a 13.7.
Lovely rod for the year they came out.

I had a pair of Daiwa pmxs 2112b 1.25lb rods with spare quiver tip tops, lovely rods, just had to take the awful isotope holder off the quiver accident waiting to happen!

In my opinion if it’s the 1.25 your after I’d look out for the pms Avon. This was the very first power mesh Avon rod produced and never bettered in terms of its amazing classical action when playing a fish.
The 12ft version was sensational I had a couple myself but the rarer 11ft pms111 was the real gem.

All the specialist power mesh rods were good but the original avons were in a little league of their own when it came to playing big fish

I always thought they were 12ft / 1.5 tc only, with that annoying wire fold for the nightlife that most pulled off!
Superb rods.
Probably that was just the Barbel Specialist.

It appears that a few of us have replied to a post that hasn't even been followed up by the author Martin.
He's obviously too busy posting a thousand other posts on different subjects.
By the way Martin, in case you just happen to bother looking in on here.
I've spent many years on Burghfield on the Kennet and know it intimately.
However, it appears a waste of time replying to your posts!
Have the decency to follow them up.
You do get notifications!

I'm a train driver, sometimes don't get time to look at phone at all, other times I'm on it all day. Sometimes I will quickly see something but not have a chance to reply, be that to a post on here or a WhatsApp or whatever.

So, I apologise if you thought me not responding was rude, it wasn't meant to be and I appreciate you taking the time to reply to me.

Martin,
From what I can see you have managed to start 5 more threads since I replied to your post on Saturday, pretty much daily!
Maybe try engaging a bit more if you have the time to start so many threads.
There is a trend, train driver or not.

One thread I've started since you replied to this John, one , and I've explained why I didn't respond to you and even apologised yet you still come back all narky and try and tell me what to do.

It's a real shame as I've really enjoyed this forum since I joined, it's generally very friendly and incredibly helpful but responses like yours are the exact reason forums have died a death.

I'll stop posting now as I'm not going to be told by someone what to do and when to do it.

Thanks to all those that have helped, especially those that have PM'd me offering all sorts of help and advice.

Pick your dummy up and stop being a child!
I've been on this forum for probably over 20 years and you are sure the first to have taken offence!

John, with all due respect, i think it was you who spat the dummy out, because Martin didn't reply to your post. He's explained why. He's also a new member, give him a break.

Another set of rods I wished I hadn't sold 😂😂

Derek,
Maybe you should read my comments again.
Tell me where I spat my dummy out?
Advising a new member that perhaps they would get more from this forum by engaging a little more in the threads that they had started.
I tend not to 'lose it' on here.
I've been a member for far too long.
I've seen so much confrontation crap on here I try to avoid it.
If you look back on all the threads that Martin has started he actually engages in very few.
I think there were 9 threads he'd started at one time on the 1st page alone.
He said to me that he was too busy to reply in 5 days and yet he probably spends more time on BFW than all the mods put together.
Your opinion is certainly different to how I tried to come across.
If anyone else feels that I was out of order than please say......
Trying to advise a new member that it's better to engage on 'open' threads as opposed to keep starting new ones time after time is polite advice...

Absolutely amazing.

I didn't reply to one thread, explained why and apologised 🤣🤣🤣🤣

So let me get this right.......

Since I joined I started some threads, sorry thought that was what a forum was for 🤣

Those threads have seen nearly 200 replies to them.

Without them this forum would have been very, very quiet.

I have posted 35 times and every single one of those posts have been on threads I've started.

So I can only apologise for this not being enough and my general behaviour on here, starting threads, replying to them and generally being pretty active is not acceptable on a forum.

The mind boggles.

Don’t give up yet Martin. It’s the close season and people on here sometimes appear to suffer from ‘withdrawal symptoms’ and are a little ‘out of sorts’.
All forums are simply an exchange of opinions and nobody agrees with all of them. You are right, without contributions this forum will end.
Good luck.
G.T.

Just for the record some of us might have had 2 way conversations with Martin via private message…..

Martin,
Take the 'like' as an olive branch and enjoy the forum.
I'm one out of thousands on here

This forum is in no danger of folding due to lack of input. Others may, there is a perfectly respectful attitude to members on here and if anyone gets a little above themselves they are knocked back. There was a time when BFW was infiltrated by some who wanted BFW to fold by flooding the forum with abuse which resulted in the owner and mods securing the site and as such we have one account one member.
Just slow down, take it easy.
