Dawn start for a change today. It was lovely until the rain set in. Best roach was 1lb 4. There seem to be quite a lot around at the moment which is great.
Good luck next time out!
I have a pass for Sunday am, early. Looks like it might warm up again after a bitter day today. Hoping I will be able to trot a float for first time this autumn.
Out again yesterday. River was high and turbulent but fishable. Tried a couple of swims behind trees to slow the flow and found 5 beautiful redfins. Best two were just under the pound and things are looking healthy for the rest of the winter.
Thanks Julian! I have had a search around and I suspect that it will push my budget a little...
I remember saving up my pocket money to buy a match reel at Exeter Angling Centre but I think I might not have enough time to get the cash together for their feeder system.;)
Phil, thanks for the reply. I'm after something a bit softer in action than that and a dedicated quiver rod rather than a twin tip. With the news today it looks like I will have time to track something down!
Hi, I'm looking for an 11 or 12ft light feeder with a soft action and glass tips. If anyone has a Shimano, Drennan or equivalent that they might considering selling please give me a PM. Thanks, Simon
First trip of the year on the bread feeder yesterday evening. Nothing huge but great to catch some perfect looking roach and explore a new swim. Lots of bites as the light faded. The river smells of autumn. :)
Beneath black waters by Jon Berry is a great read. Life, death, Teenage Fan Club and the obsession of chasing ferox in glacial lochs. How to fish is brilliant but then again so are all of Yates' books. Rod and Line by Arthur Ransome is also falling apart from repeated reading since dad gave me...
I don't fish the Severn so this may be under-gunned but, on the BA and tribs I use a Fox duolite specimen rod with glass quiver. The TC is disputed but somewhere between 0.5 and 1lb. It is pretty perfect for roach on the feeder - it bends and bends and combined with soft hands I have been lucky...
It is tight! My main bugbear however is the carry handle and strap- they are not positioned correctly to balance out properly when carrying it which seems a big oversight. I am going to have to see if I can add some weight to the base as a counter balance. I had expected it to be better thought out!
