Given the position of a rod in relation to an angler sitting on the bank, I have never understood the need for an isotope on a reel. Wouldn't it be a better idea to recess an isotope in the top of the rod handle?
Thanks for your reply Richard. I might have to try and find somewhere to have a bit of a gander at one of those. I have to say I tend to find, as may be known on here that I keep banging on about it so much 😂, that most barbel rods are vastly more resistant to bending than need be, thus my...
Simon, can I give you some advice?
Try searching the internet for effective base mix ingredients purchased from other than bait suppliers. Protein powder and a binder together with perhaps a coarse ingredient will produce a bait that will catch. All this flavour combination stuff is great and...
Hello all, is it June yet? 😆
I am looking for what I consider to be a great 2 piece summer barbel rod and was wondering if anyone had any experience with the above rod.
It seems to be just the ticket but reviews seem to be thin on the ground.
Any alternative suggestions for 12ft two piece true...
Yet you hear it all the while though, Richard - plenty of power lower down when you need it. The angler feels that as power, but the fish doesn't.
Was in India once and one night went out in a coracle to retrieve a lead that was snagged for another angler. Having managed to get the terminal...
You say proper rod, Derek, but in my mind but for the difference in overall strength, modern barbel rods remind of the John Wilson Avon Quiver action - quite soft in the top, though progressive, until you get to the spigot where it's almost unusable given it's resistance to bending.
I am looking for the perfect (in my mind) summer barbel rod and looking at carp float rods. I couldn't see any logical reason as to why a 6lb line might be the maximum line you could use, distance casting aside perhaps.
I was going to start another thread to discuss this but seeing as this topic had been mentioned on this thread...
..is the notion of a rod's line rating a construct between a rod's resistance to bending and the line that you might think you'd use given that resistance to bending? ie a float rod...
Thanks for taking the time to do that.
I realise you might not have one, but do you think the Accy Specimen would have warranted an inclusion - just asking as per your comments on the plus?
