I have those in 2lb tc and they are lovely rods!

Fishing clear waters I tend to sit back a little from the rod so it takes a few seconds to get to it.

Can I reccommend a different approach? I remember hearing about this years ago. We all talk commonly about layering with different layers using a baselayer, mid layer, insulator and a shell perhaps. Find a decent lightly insulated mid layer that is warm for it's weight and buy two or three of them.

Let's face it, Alan, irrespective of it's merit, we all know that's what they'll say? I have to say I wasn't trying to justify, I think looking at the images we may be equally despondent.

Were you using TM1 or Chicken Tikka?

You could try adding a coarse bird food type ingredient or something that on it's own brings a degree of solubility that follows the original bait's profile.

If I was to consider those two options I would look to increase F2's solubility.
