Paul. I don't disagree with what you say. I work 9-5 in the week (plus 1.5hrs commuting per day) and have a young family which means weekday day fishing is a no no (unless I'm on a days holiday) and weekend day fishing is a rarity. This means I spend many more hours fishing in darkness than...
Of course it is! Fished two days (and nights) on the Trent recently. Two bites in the hours of daylight all the time I was there, lost them both 😏 Between dusk and approx 4.30am both nights had 11 barbel first night and 8 the second. Came steady throughout the hours of darkness. Just wasn't...
A friend bought a job lot of gear including the Dark Carbons, he wasn't going to use them and offered me them at a price I couldn't really say no to. They look unused. I've been praying for lots of rain ever since! 😅
This has been me this season 😂
I've got a pair of Free Spirit Hi-S 2lb barbel rods with Shim 6000D reels on, absolutely lovely gear.
More recently (as in the last week! I've acquired a pair of Mark Tunley built Harrison Dark Carbon Specialist rods, 12' 2.5lb TC for flood water and on these...
3 for me, they cover spring carp fishing (including nights) and my barbel fishing. I would happily add a syndicate though ;)
I've been pretty good at getting rid of unused tackle and tickets in recent years 👍
Hi all, after a pair of reels to go on some flood water rods.
I'm probably trying to push custard up hill asking for 2nd hand Shimano 6000D or OC reels but if anyone has a tidy pair laying around they would like to part with for sensible money then please let me know!
Failing that, anything...
Well that was my problem, I was using a large maggot box which went straight in the bottom drawer of the freezer at the end of a session. However, sometimes I need a full box full of groundbait and I only like to mix once a session if I can help it. Was a pain having to mix in a smaller tub...
Think the solution is that I'll use a 5l bucket going forward, I bought one of the little gardner camo ones (tart!!) and used it on a recent session. So much easier just been able to put my ingredients in, pop a bit of water in and get my hands in to mix it all without chucking it everywhere 😂...
Terry, wife went to the shop couple of weeks back and I asked specifically for SPAM. She came back with Sainsbury own brand. Wasn't best pleased 😅 These were the messages exchanged yesterday evening... 😂😂😂
@David Craine I really should mix up at home but don't have access to anything other than tap water and I'm put off by the chemicals it will contain. I have tried keeping the post hemp cooking juice in a milk carton to use, but again, never get round to using it in what I consider a reasonable...
Sorry for the daft question 🤡
I have been mixing and keeping my groundbait in a large maggot type box. The main reasons for this are: it fits neatly in my rucksack, it comfortably holds enough groundbait for the length of sessions that I fish and at the end of the session it goes straight into...
I never tie a rig without the little bit of tubing. Confidence thing I guess and spill over from carp fishing where sometimes you'd have had interest in the hook bait but never received an indication! Less useful on the rivers for barbel like as you generally know when you've had a take or not...
I use a small piece of silicone tube on the shank, holds the bait where you want it. Also a good indicator if your hookbait has been meddled with as the silicone will have slid towards the eye if a fish has mouthed the bait 👍
