I use a 14ft Ultra on my chalk stream beat. It has coped with Grayling over 2lb, Trout over 5lb and Chub to 5lb.
However other than some weed there are no snags or overhanging trees.
I use an 11ft Ultra on a side stream which has more snags and a lot of trees, hence the shorter rod. A...
I have the Vass 310 70T Hybrid chest waders and as Andy states they definitely could do with a belt as there is an excess of material which although helps when bending and kneeling down they do look baggy and feel massive. So they won't win any prizes for style.

Re your Drennan power float rod. I sold one a few years ago to a friend who thinks it great for Barbel and Chub.
He likes it so much I managed to find another one and was hoping to try it out on the Wye the week after next but
with the heat and water...
I picked up a pair of Sundridge Hooper Barbel rods some years ago and have never used them. May take one out in the next couple of weeks on the Avon. Liked his book as a lot of it was relevant to my local rivers. RIP.
Hi Stephen
I have heard some say yes it is, but my own experience with a 14' Acolyte Plus is no it isn't. Even with large chub fighting through the strong flow (Hants Avon in winter) and heading towards undergrowth on the far bank I find it hard work and a bit daunting.
Maybe I am not using...
Oliver you will get varied and conflicting advice from our members as everyone has their own opinion as to what centrepin to use.
Even though price may be irrelevant I would still suggest you don't pay too much for your first pin. Buying more expensive models can come once you have decided if...

My wife is on her second Juke and she has always been pleased with them. We have never had any major problems with either. I have just tried putting my barbel rods ( already set up and in a quiver} and it fits but does extend some way over the centre arm. There is a panel that can be...
Just acquired this little gem. Never seen one before.
The obvious question is why would you need one? The next is how does it work as if the line is supposed to go through the coil at the end of the spring loaded arm surely the line will get tangled when one strikes?
Were these common place at...
Bit of a long shot but has anyone got the rod sleeve for a Drennan Acolyte Ultra 14' they don't require?
I know I can get other bags to fit but being sad I would like the correct one
Mike
Thanks for all the advice
Just to say I have purchased one Shimano Stradic 3000 GTM RC and am looking for another at a reasonable price.
Also I have loaded up with new line my Gary Mills/ Fred J. Taylor specialist pin, so they should cover my needs
Thanks again
Mike
I rarely fish lakes and most of my river fishing is with centrepins but thinking of float fishing stillwaters on occasions during the river close season.
Up until now I have had a pair of the old Shimano Aero 3500GT baitrunners but I will keep them for legering for tench
What suggestions for a...
