Hi Clive, do you happen to know what the difference is between the 6000 and 8000 versions, is it just the spool size rather than the body? I am looking for another 8000 version but this might work.
Phil
Hi all, looking for a single Shimano 8000XTEA reel should anyone have one they are willing to part with. If anyone has something please let me know. Phil
The only time I heard about an angler claiming to use them for Barbel and Carp, turns out he was catching on pellets. They are used by many for carp fishing so guess if baited with correctly they must stand a chance of delivering. Don’t know how easy to flavour or colour they are but sure others...
just a quick question regarding scales and readings - does anyone have a set of scales that measure in drams? I see so many people claiming fish weights including drams but have never seen a set of scales for fishing that accurate. Am I just being cynical or do they really exist? One very well...
I have had mine for 2 years now, never had any issues and used regularly, not just for fishing. I have to say I did try rechargeable batteries which was a bad move - they just did not last. Since removing them I use the Energizer High Tech batteries (I sell batteries so know the better options)...

For me the best lines above 6lb is pro gold or pro clear. Never found anything better than these two. Otherwise for lower breaking strain and legering I use diawa sensor or maxima, float fishing with drennans float fish. Pro gold or pro clear in the larger strains is simply brilliant - knot...
I generally use a centre pin, and we always use pins and cane rods first week of the season for all fishing - just for the craic really. Otherwise, pin and hexagraph for me.
Nice to see the video, but my first thoughts were that it was a mink not an otter. Mink make the bubble trail, and are more inquisitive than young otters, and will be seen more often during daylight hours too. It just didn't seem to move and look right to me - more like a mink.
Canoes on the Ouse
I have the fishing rights to a stretch of the Ouse, and Sunday we had a father and two sons come by. They could be heard screaming and shouting from about half a mile away. When we told him to keep quiet he response was he could do what he liked, when we told him the stretch...
