Some clowns put some catfish in one of our club waters which used to be a well balanced mixed fishery with a good head of decent sized Pike and some carp to low 30s and clear water. One has been caught at over 50lb and removed, other numbers unknown but rumoured to have been 5. I'd guess it's...
Shame. The frustrating thing is that Fox do exactly what I need as replacement mesh for one of their predator nets but I ordered one and a complete 24" fixed spoon type arrived. They haven't got a clue what they're doing these days and everything comes from Holland. This was pre Brexit so heaven...
I am pretty diverse in my fishing interests and read quite a bit of American literature. Over there Beaver ponds are very welcome features on rivers. They provide , for fish, an ideal haven for protecting fry from flooding and a fantastic environment for promoting good growth for the adults...
Heard today from someone 'in the know' about last night.
I think it was Linear fisheries but I couldn't be certain.
Apparently cars started building up at the entrance before midnight, at one point there were a hundred vehicles queueing and causing a traffic hazard so the gates were opened. By...
Thanks. I'm looking for a rubber mesh to fit a 30'' round Salmon gye net. Fox do one but it's impossible to order. I've tried and ended up with a 26'' complete net and frame for the price of the mesh only. Anyone want it? It's still sitting here with the packaging. £25. Anyone want it?
They are...
I'd second that. I believe mine's called The quickfold, large size. I imagine the medium size is what you've been using. They're identical apart from the dimensions. Plenty deep enough mesh.
Can't see how leadcore can be a good thing to protect against zebra mussels or other sharp things. It's only braid filled with lead wire and braid is supposed to be super bad for lack of abrasion resistance.
I'd try a thick flurocarbon leader. Supposedly invisible and sinks like a stone.
Or a...
I've bought a few really good quality reels from China. I've had a few real stinkers over the years too. The stinkers have all been Diawa branded bought here.
Buying from China, every site I've visited gives very accurate dimensions and weights as to every aspect of their reels or any type of...

It's after dark in December, off at 6.00pm and I don't do it very often. Maybe once a year to test out some new tackle.
If you've got a severe Barbel itch it's a great place to sooth it.
It is a great place to test rigs though.
Like I said, the rig you use and the confidence in it is the most important factor in catching any fish. If you think using a certain material hooklink catches you more fish that's likely going to be as important as anything else.
In an unusual situation I've found that rigs make virtually...

The point I was trying to make was that hook links make no difference whatsoever to Barbel captures.
If using some complicated hooklink construction gives you confidence, that's the best thing to increase your catch rate there can be.
Confidence in your method is the most important thing in...
Difficult for me to get past braid mainline and nylon hook links. ALWAYS using a Palomar knot to attach the swivel to the braid which must be a sensible diameter, say .30 mm which is usually about 30lb B.S. and is relatively abrasion resistant, but not bulletproof. It's about the same diameter...
