    Rudd

Moved the pb up by an ounce, 2lb 6oz - the best way to do it ! Still hoping for one closer to 3lb before the cold weather arrives. I’m going to miss the fens when it does.

"Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing" New Series

Love that hat, bought one myself before the silly prices. Love the series.

    SAD NEWS

Just listening to his voice takes me to a good place. Grew up with the Wombles and must have watched A Passion and CTI twenty times each over the years. Lovely man. RIP Bernard.

    Number of rods and reels

I think I have 21 rods and reels which is a lot, but I fish for all species including fly.

    Rudd

Absolutely loving my rudd campaign. Fishing at its simplest: a rod, net, pack of hooks and some bread. Walked miles, hardly seen a sole and caught some stunning fish. Equalled my PB yesterday with this beauty.

    Rudd

My waistline has reduced and I’ve managed a few beautiful wild rudd to boot. Still not bettered 2.05 though.

    Hiking/walking boots

I have some grade 1 Altbergs and they’re very good, especially for the money.

    Rudd

There’s a lot of walking involved.

    Rudd

Had my first go at targeting Rudd a couple of days ago and managed one of 2.05. Am going to concentrate on them for the next few weeks when conditions are favourable, in the hope of getting closer to a 3. If anyone fancies joining me, let me know, I’m fishing the Peterborough area.

    Tench 2022

I’ve been grafting away on a local gravel pit in an attempt to up my pb of 7.14 caught from Sywell about 25 years ago, when I last had a brief go for them. After a few decent sessions and many blanks, I finally managed a fish of 9.06. Very happy. Going to have a few more sessions in the hope of...

    Waders.

I wear smart wool socks and oversize my wading boots by 1 to take account of the neoprene boot sock.

Chris Bracey. Sad loss of BFW regular

RIP Chris, gone far too early.

    2.75 rods

If 3lb test curve rods were needed for barbel fishing I really wouldn’t bother. A major part of the enjoyment i derive from fishing for all species, is getting an alarming bend in the rod. I’ve never cast to the far bank of the Tidal Trent and never will. If others want to do so, no problem, so...

AA Baits What are they like ?

I’ve used them a few times Ian, good quality ingredients at a fair price.

    Catch Cult 28

It’s a very good read Martin, I’ve been subscribed from the start. Keep up the good work.

    Four For A Quid Feeders

I feather my casts because it reduces tangles on both stillwaters and rivers. Simples.

    Milk Protein Base Mixes

I did Rich for many years, but now just try and buy quality freezer fishmeals with a difference and pimp them up a bit.

    Milk Protein Base Mixes

It’s very effective for barbel Chris, I always have one rod on milks and the other on a fish meal.

    Milk Protein Base Mixes

I have yeasts in my current mix, no idea why though, just always seems to go with liver. May have read the musings of one of the bait gurus, back in the day when I didn’t realise how precious time is.
