    Welsh Water

As Joe used the quote above, we get what we deserve. Politicians sell dreams, or visions of the future whatever way you wish to put it. If they thought being more radical would help them to power they’d do it. The truth is to my mind at least, the average voter doesn’t want more radical, if...

    Welsh Water

I have to say if I ever found myself voting Labour it would be through gritted teeth but I wouldn’t dare tell anyone else what they should vote. As much as people love to bash the Tories, and faults they have a few… the legacy left by Labour under Tony Blair is a taste I will never forgive or...

    Tuna in Devon

Potentially… being slightly skeptical though, is it possible that the opposite is also possible. That dwindling fish stocks are causing them to travel greater ranges to less frequented and less desirable ranges to sustain themselves. They have definitely been present down here in the southwest...

    Tuna in Devon

One washed up dead in Dorset last week after sightings around the area…

Are you happy to pay to watch fishing videos?

Do different to any other media really as Joe says. Even print, yes you received something you could hold but the end result is the same, entertainment/information. If it’s behind a pay wall, like a magazine, you either buy it or you don’t…

    Still water barbel

Whilst I’m not exactly thrilled with the idea of Stillwater Barbel it’s a an interesting topic in terms of the future of fishing. There sadly may come a time when our rivers aren’t a suitable environment for them or a feasible prospect for us as Anglers for a variety of reasons not just...

Fishing the swim next to someone

Or better still there’s a massive snag and you gave up fishing after you lost too much end tackle in that swim.

Have you ever caught a barbel on one of these?

I know a local guy who has tried but not had a successful experience.

    Fish In Warks Avon. Update

Whilst it’s something I would of really liked to attend sadly I don’t think this will work schedule wise. If it had been the other date I could of made it work but that’s life. At a stretch I could of attended the Saturday but it would of been a push and if someone else can use the slot then I’d...

    Boom!

If it works for you it works.

    Boom!

True mostly but in gin clear, pressured waters with low stock things can be different especially in daylight. I’ve converted the frustration of hours into a fish in minutes by giving in and using a more subtle presentation, too many times for it to be coincidental. If the conditions...

BFW Fish In. Warks Avon 23/4 September

Tentative interest from me. The 24th is my birthday and I don’t think I could blag a full weekend off parenting at the moment.

    Boom!

If you’re using a combi with the flouro as a boom you can go pretty thick and that should avoid the problems as said. Personally though I’d try the coated braid as it’s convenient and very abrasion resistant.

    Wild fishing

I know one day my fishing will be limited to places that don't require climbing, or pushing through vegetation to places with platforms and toilet facilities but for now I will enjoy things. Growing up scaling cliffs and rocks to shore fish with my Dad, getting there was all part of the experience.

    OMC magic twig

Kind of reminds me of the elasticated inline feeder rig.

    Thames Barbel

As Jon shows above his arm is there. There is a patch behind the pelvic fin which could be a shaded hand. It doesn’t effect me either way so I’m not going to invest much time thinking about it.

    Thames Barbel

Personally I think it’s just a naff picture, the fish isn’t in focus either. I doesn’t set off my photoshop alarm bells but it also doesn’t provide me with confidence of the claimed weight. All said and done though, I’m not fussed. If the chap is exaggerating then he’s only fooling himself. If...

Helping Barbel that are having difficulty recovering

Some people would call me sad but I’m hyper organised with this kind of thing, same with work. I’m the guy who has screwdrivers in size order. I have everything in its place and don’t carry dead weight in my bag. I often fish short sessions in the dark, and I can go through long blank spells...

Helping Barbel that are having difficulty recovering

8 minutes! I have a feeling the fish is out the water the whole time? Sorry but I’d be intervening here if that’s the case.
